I admit I am not familiar with the way our vehicles are grounded so bear with me. I have some aftermarket gauges that need lights hooked up. If the output wire from the rheostat is taped it will brighten and dim the new gauges opposite of the OEM.
I have an aftemaket dimmer from Autometer that can be used as a stand alone of hooked up through the OEM rheostat. My question is which wires go where?
The Autometer has a power, ground and output to the lights but can I reverse the polarity to match vehicle?
Thank in advance.
David

ooooh, I would NOT transpose polarity. call the mfg.

Here is how I addresed this issue on my aftermarket temp gauge:

I ran the wire from the aux gauge light over to the green light ring around the cigarette lighter. Spliced into it, and it now dims in sync with the rest of the dash.

I will check that out tomorrow. A PO spliced into a wire directly behind the rheostat and that one does the opposite so maybe further downstream it will work.
Thanks,
David
