has anyone installed the cruiser corps dash cap on a pre-9/72 rig? or anyone know what is involved? they are on sale now and would be much easier to do this than fill in the cracks on my original.

As you know, that cap is for the later models and in my opinion, doesn't look right on the pre 72 models because of the dip in the center dash. maybe somebody knows how to modify it.

thanks ron, yea, that's the issue. I was hoping that this would work, maybe someone will chime in that has made it happen.

But was it on the other day when I asked? ;). No worries, I got backup plans

Looks good do you have a pic of center area... was wondering how it looked with out the switch piece on the dash pad itself?

Ok... just by chance did it look that bad with out the lower piece on the dash pad? I am guessing that it's a flat piece of metal behind it with a hole for the window switch. ..

We were happy with the end result after snipping here and there. It did not look hacked up in my opinion. It looked very good actually, much better then I thought it was going to look. In our opinion, the change using the brand new later year pad cap on the earlier Land Cruiser was a better choice then keeping the dry, bruised and cracking original as the primary pad. No question about it, even with the alterations. Hope this info helps. fjfjfj

on this, I pondered this for awhile, I don't think it would come out looking good, I may be wrong but after laying the later style over the earlier style dash I just think it would come out looking weird, especially since the "cap" material is plastic and it will be hard to get it to lay flat and even with the existing dash.

I was lucky enough to source an almost cherry new early dash from a friend up in canada. Had been sitting under a mullberry tree in moist weather for decades. :)

it is my "precious"....
