I emailed him this thread when I wrote it up.

I have been sending him pics, etc of the truck as I work on and wheel it.

I like to stay in touch with POs as well as people I sell trucks to.

FJBen had my FJ55 (Pigpen) before it rolled.

Lowtideride's girlfriend has my 91 FJ80 and I see some chats or PMs with updates every now and then :)

I hope I never have to sell this rig, but if I do I am offering it back to Robin (probably for the same money I bought it for) and if he can't buy it I will be very selective in the next owner. I hope that day never ever comes. I love this rig.

Very nice story...Do you still have contact with PO? I like to keep in contact with my PO or owner that I sold it to.

Nice looking rig, Dan. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your truck up in Tellico at MLK weekend.

Cool background story, too.

Awsome rig! Sorry about the divorce, though.

Congrats Dan! Yes this is a nice rig and Dan is a great guy to wheel with. Looks as if a pic of my 4Runner snuck into the background too!

Unique to say the least. And then the he has a unique wagon as well:flipoff2:

Always a pleasure wheeling with you Dan.

I remember not too long there was a thread about this rig when it was listed on ebay and so many people on this board were talking smack about it. Good see a nice rig being bought by a fellow enthusiast. Happy Trails

Thanks, I read up a lot on this and talked a bit with Robin before I ever thought about buying it. I almost bought it the time before it was listed on ebay...I am glad it worked out and ended up in my garage.

Tomorrow I do some PM on it with belts, tune up stuff, and a new idler pulley! :)

VERY sweet rig. Could you post up some pics of the air tanks in the spare tire area? I have been thinking about making something up and would love to see what someone else has done.

I will see if I can snap a few tomorrow.

I will post up 6" pics once I get them :)

I have the rear cargo drawers full of tools, camping gear, etc. I would estimate the rear runs around as you see it in the pics with about 300 pounds or so of constant load from cargo, plus the spare, bumper, etc.

very cool. What is the modification to the Slee rear bumper?

Added a spindle to the DS with an arm for a spare carrier.

Also, there is an air coupler on the PS corner to tap into the on board air.

Sorry in advance for the poor pics, I only have my cell phone camera right now since the ex took the real camera :)

Going to cover a few things here:

Rear Carrier (modified Slee):

Rear coupler (the cover is a rubber chair leg foot):

I see now. I interpreted the "added a DS spindle" to mean 'in addition to' the PS spindle; but you mean 'moved the spindle to the DS." I was wondering how you mounted an air connector along with a swing arm. I've looked on the PS (stock Slee rear tyre carrier) and I couldn't see how it could be done easily.

Thanks Dan!

Dan,

I spent a full day riding shotgun in your rig with Robin Hood at LSLC's ICBM. It is the best wheeling 80 I have ever ridden in and, when it was built, it was state-of-the-art as far as the aftermarket goes. Glad to hear your adding the 6".

I would have bought it when Robin offered it up to the club, but my wife still turns up her nose at any wheeling that includes a top on the vehicle.

At one point, just before the rubberized coating was done, Robin was very seriously considering bobbing it. That would have been very cool, but it is obviously better suited for your use as is.

Anyway, I have great wheeling memories from that day in your truck and I'm glad to see it went to someone who is using it as you are.

Take care-

Thanks for the comments, it is getting a lot of TLC downstairs right now :)
