Friend of mine and seldom Mud frequenter DMC recently had a local guy that fabs race car tube chassis build him a tube bumper. I know very little about it, other than it's a work of art and I only wish I could weld like that.

I agree with all the positive feedback. But I'd be seriously concerned about winching with that. From the picture it only secures with with 4 bolt that hold the joke of an OEM steel bumper on. It's not meant to be pulled. He'd had to design the brackets to wrap around the frame rails and bolt into the recovery point nuts also.

I agree. And not just winch concerns but also jacking, recovery, impact, etc, good eye.
Catching the corner on a rock would bend the whole thing into the hood and probably rip off the mount. It's bolted to the part of the frame we cut off for the Slee blueberry bumper.
Dang! I was really hoping this would be a super solid bumper like Shaggy's, I love the look of this bumper and I personally like appearance and utility. Speaking of which, you're dog is freaking adorable Klaus... Love me some German, gotta get one soon.

It's a one off, sorry, no orders. Also, it's a minimal baja bumper, not a rock crawler/cow bumper. And I wouldn't hesitate to winch off it, the center section is super beefy. It's built for what the guy needs, which is chasing their Class V around the desert.
It's certainly a great looking design. I would definitely like something with that clearance. I would not want to slam down on it or winch off it if it is in fact bolted into the tin can frame horn caps. That being said, I am sure it's plenty stout for the intended purpose and much strong than the OEM.

The OEM mounts definitely suck... but a good fabricator can easily fabricate better mounting points to spread the load more evenly into the frame. I've always been a fan of tube bumpers and this design definitely hits a home run for me. When I'm ready, I'll take these pics to my fabricator to build something similar... unless someone steps up and starts producing them. =]
