I'm obviously not privy to the final design but the lower portion of the cup could "potentially" be affected but my winch controller or in your case the 4WD shifter.

Side note: @joekatana what is the part number of your fog light switch, if you know?

No clue but I probably have a few around as they are mandatory on Euro spec cruisers.

Well that is ok since I only use that 4wd lever once every while and when I do use it there will be no open beverages in the Cruiser, unless I am holding them ;)

Thanks for the pics of the pull out ashtray. A single cup might work in that location. I am going to focus on the two double cup designs then possibly come back to the singe cup pull out idea.

Knowing very little about 3D printing, I'm guessing you have a 1'x1' platform. To make the oem console, would it be feasible to make it as two pieces? If you make it with ABS plastic the buyer could glue them together with acetone. Sand and paint to their liking? The differences between LHD and RHD would be easy enough to cover by mirroring the blue print on the aft section when constructing the file?

Most of my machines have a 6"x9" platform but I have 2 that are 12"x12"x14". All large parts are made on those. I want to get one with a 12"x24" platform. There is one particular I have been looking at. Maybe next year I will have the funds for it. I could definitely do the print in pieces but would need more that just the console to do it. I would need access to a 70 for a rather extended period of time. Anyone with a 70 in the eastern part of the Inland Empire? (Yucaipa, Redlands, Highland, Beaumont, Big Bear, Forest Falls, Angeles Oaks, etc.)

So I got a console from a 70 yesterday. This is the console that goes up and around the shifters. I worked on a basic design today to get my general idea in CAD. I'm sure there will be many changes but this is the general direction I'm heading right now. The double that goes does on the floor will be totally different. Once I get this design done then I will move on to that design. I made sure it is reversible and can mount on either a RHD or LHD. It currently holds two cups, a phone, two pens, and a multitool.

Here's a rough idea on the floor double cup holder for the folks who don't have the console around the shifters. My hope is that this design will work in all 70's including 70s WITH a console between the seats and 70s with no console between the seats. I wanted to make it side to side but realized the e-brake would go right over one of the cups. It had to go front to back. Then I realized since it was going front to back I could use the design I already made and just modify the bottom to match the curvature of the floor with that awkward hump in it. Here's a rough idea of what I'm thinking. You can see the notch for the floor hump thing cut into the bottom.

Nice! I need a brown one.:grinpimp:

How about I do some CAD (Cardboard-Aided-Design) for you for the floor contour?

That's the final step, which is to find all of the factory color options and see if I can find matches.

Wow, that looks nice and practical.
One question: is it for lhd or rhd?

For LHD, think needs a test on the car, to see if its not tight space to have the phone between cups and handbrake?

I looked at my console and Id rather have the phone next to the passanger seat.

Another point is having your phone connected with a charger or mp3 cable. That cable would go across the cups to reach the phone in the current design.

Id say have the phone slot on the right of the cups, away from the handbrake.

Any thoughts on this?

What's wrong with right hand drive?:rimshot:

The cup is reversible. It will always go on the side opposite the ebrake. It will never be up against the ebrake in any variation. The phone slot is on the outside of the console not the inside. The hole for the charger to go through is hanging a hair off the console over the carpet. You just need to run the charger along the seat and up. You shouldn't need to run a cable over anything. I'm thinking your looking at it backwards. I have a prototype printing right now. I will get it mounted (assuming version 1.0 fits) and then get some pics of it. Hopefully that will clear up any confusion.

Where's my brown one! :flipoff2:

Ok, so the order from left to right of the car in the lhd variant is
Handbrake lever-cups-phone.

That should be ideal.

@cruiserdan: I drive my lhd in uk too, so I just need a lottery ticket and a jdm hjz 73 will be my second vehicle...:)

Meanwhile I cross Europe with my slow lj73, hence the need for a coffee cup holder....:))
