All,

The manual and auto consoles are different in that the manual is a one piece, where is the auto comes apart in two pieces as pictured in the diagram above(top if for auto, bottom is for a manual). The one I have is a malaysian replica which is one piece so I cannot fully confirm that OEM is the same.

77cruiser77: Has an actual OEM one which looks identical to my malaysian one, except for the 4 coin collectors down the middle. By looking at the pic it doesnt look like his comes apart in two pieces, he needs to confirm.
Wow. Every time I think I fully understand the 70 series console option I get another curve ball. Eventually I am going to get my head around what Toyota was doing with the 70 series. Any more curve balls guys?

I removed mine last year and don't recall it being able to come apart like that. I'll probably need to look closer but my vehicle isnt overly accessible for me right now. Next chance I get I'll just remove it since it's parked for the winter. Four or five screws, remove the shifter knob and the whole thing comes out

So these hold loose change .... Cool. This whole time I just assumed they were there to collect dust and spare lint.

Hello,

Here are mine.

I included a 30 com ruler for measurement; however, the sun was too bright and my Photoshop skills are marginal at best.

So here it is. 1995 FZJ73. Center view.

Distance from the dash to the shifter. I believe post-1992 models had the lever moved backwards because different transmissions were used; I might be wrong on this one.

More to come in another post.

Hope this helps.

So are the overall floor/spatial measurements you took matching from the 95 to the 2006?

Hello,

They match. Both models share the H151F transmission.

Does the sheet metal on the floor change at all from one tranny option to the next? I am seeing the side to side hump on the floor on every 70 series picture I have seen so far.

Hello,

Apparently not. Notice that there is a plate that bolts on on the right side of the hump with holes for the levers.

I do not have pictures of the plate at hand.

A plate? Crap! Another variable to deal with. This is getting crazy with the amount of options out there for the 70 series. I eventually will figure out all the options and then try my best to come up with something that will look good and work with most if not all options.

Just tuning into this one. I've got the factory console in my HZJ77 with a manual, but need to make it functional. I will be interested in what you come up with.

My goal right now is to make one that will work with both the factor and Malyasian console for the LHD and RHD 70's. I also want to make a double that will mount to the floor of the 70's that done have that section of the console. Hopefully two designs will cover all 70s but we will see.

Settle down there Mr. Richards and take another sip of your coffee.

I don't think he has all the ins and outs of Prado tranny humps, 70 series tranny humps, factory consoles for auto and manual, pre and post 1990 nuances. I'm sure once all the data has been accumulated it won't be long at all, but until then we'll just have to wait and do what we can to help out the process.

1995 78 Prado Manual. Front part around the shifter is one piece. That little cupholder is the only thing that detaches from the main console

So I spent the last several days looking over threads, google images, old forums, etc. and now feel pretty confident I understand all the different options that were available for the 70. From what I can tell all 70 series from all years have the same basic sheet metal floor pan for the front seats. There are differences from RHD and LHD but nothing that can't just be mirrored for the two sides. I am pretty confident I can make one design that will sit flat and flush on the floor that will work for all 70's that don't have the center console section that goes up around the console. I should also be able to make one double cup holder that will mount onto the OEM and Malaysian center console/tranny shifter cover. I should be able to then mirror that an offer 4 options. There will be a double cup holder that sits on the floor(up on the tranny hump) between the two front seats very similar to my 62 series double. It will come in a RHD and LHD version. There will also be one that mounts to the full center console for a LHD and RHD console. Now I just need the actual console in my hands. It has the curvatures on the bottom I need to make the cup holder for the non-center console 70 AND the curvatures up top for the 70's that came with the center console.

Bang. I'm in @bhicks. Wish I could help you more this time around.
No worries. You helped me plenty. If you need a 70 series cup holder when I'm all done, it's yours for free. I still owe you and I did not forget.
