Charles's HZJ77 does have the console, not all 90+ HZJ7x's do however. Here are the options:

Ok. Thanks for that link. I see the actual part that goes from the console between the seats to the dash is the same for the auto and manual. Just the top bezel section changes. That means I just need access to that a center console (section around the shifters) on either an auto or manual from 1990 or later. Whoever loans me their console for about 2 weeks will get a free cup holder out of the deal. I will also cover shipping the console to me and back to you. That is assuming your in the US and not in Dubai or something. I also need access to a pre 1990 70 series for a few hours to take measurements. I will have to make one that sits on the floor in front of the pre 1990 console and another that sits up on top of the post 1990 console. Are there any guys in Socal (preferably in the IE) that could give me access to any of this stuff?

On mine with the 2/3 bench seats and e-brake handle, there really isn't anywhere for a "center console". I bought a Rubbermaid bin and modified it to house the ebrake. The gear shifter just clears it.

Ok. So that model I can't do much with. I need to focus on the ones with a center console that is just between the seats and the ones that go all the way to the dash. I have seen pics of the base (pre 90) center console. Can anyone post a pic of the post 90 center consoles that go all the way to the dash?

The European spec 70's only got a center console from 1994 for the K7x models and 1998 for the H7x models.

I wonder if you can make something that slides in where the ashtray is now, most folks do not smoke in their Cruiser anyways and the beverage would be out of harms way there and easely accessible.

Here is the cup holder from consoles.com.au i ordered

So it looks like somebody already makes a cup holder for the 70 series that has no center console. I think I will focus on making cup holders for the center console that goes between the seats and the one that goes all the way to the dash. That will give me two options I will be developing. That way all versions have a cup holder option either by me or the other company. Does anybody have a picture of the factory center console that goes all the way to the dash? Anybody know what Market/country that OEM center console sold in?

You should still do something similar but with your own twist on it for the models with no center console in my opinion. It would be nice to have an option that is made by a fellow mud member and is already stateside so people dont have to pay shipping from australia on top of the already spendy price they charge for those consoles. Supporting a small business here in the US doesn't hurt the cause either.
Also, if the reasoning behind not making cupholders for the bench seat models is because someone already makes them..... that same company makes multiple options for the center console models as well but that shouldnt stop you. Instead I say include as many options for different models as you can. 70 series are coming into the US more and more frequently and I bet your orders will fill quickly!

Disclaimer: Extremely biased opinion since I will be wanting cupholders for a bench seat model 70 series soon and would love to avoid shipping from the other side of the globe hahaha

THIS. I paid a s*** load in shipping from AUS. I would have purchased local in a heart beat.

edit to add,

The whole ordeal took me almost 6 months, it just so happens that they were expanding production, but that should be no reason why emails go weeks unanswered. There was a point that i almost gave up.

Now that you have the schematic, do you need want the photos from the 77 Series?

I would really like to see an actual pic of the center consoles in a 70 series and not just a schematic. In the end, my greatest challenge is going to be getting the actual consoles to work off of. I am badly going to need some loaner consoles here in Socal for a couple weeks to make this project happen.

I have an HZJ77, when I bought it, I thought it was missing the center console, but from what i am reading, some did not come with one. Anyway I found this one on ebay, the overall shape fits nice, and the mounting bolt holes line up. The only thing off is the opening for the manual shifter, its off by about 1.5", but the tcase opening lines up perfectly. If you were to re-make it, wouldnt be hard to fix the opening alignment. My cruiser is JDM, I believe this console is for non JDM 70 series, which may be the reason it does not quite fit. Hope this helps.

Perhaps this is not needed now.

RhinoRig, Is your console bin screwed or bolted or does it stay put without?

Been sick and trapped inside. My HZJ77 with manual transmission and factory console are buried under the snow. When I can I'll get a picture. I'll also be doing my transmission so I'll be removing it and could possibly send it down if I got it back soon enough. No timeline however.

Loober: I have a leather outer boot attaching to the console and underneath that a rubber inner boot attached to the transmission hump. Yours looks like the old universal boot. That console is for RHD, did it come from eBay?
