Anyone have the file the sides down a little for this to fit? I just got a new one and the front lower corners are a tad long to fit. The bottom round part needs to be trimmed a little on both sides. Just curious in case I need to return it. Thanks

That particular radiator should be an exact factory fit. Has your 80 been in an accident in the past?
 
Have you tried loosening one of the brackets on the radiator support bracket so the fat corner can slip by?
 
Common, slightly loosen the lower brackets on the core support, install the radiator and the lower bolts, then tighten the lower brackets.
 
It was in a minor accident. However, a KOYO radiator fits perfectly.....my new just started to leak after 2 weeks. Therefore I am trying the CSF. The CSF is physically wider on those "wings" than my Koyo and my factory radiator

Those bolts can be tough to get to but it's possible. You can always remove the headlight.
 
I got to the bolts and it's all bolted up now. When I originally removed the plastic fan shroud it broke (stripped bolt on fan prevented removal this time, so yes I got frustrated and ripped the fan shroud apart lol). Anyway, I pieced the fan shroud back together minus the bottom part. Will this be ok to skip the bottom part? I have it foam lined everywhere else.

No, but I have successfully repaired plastics a few times. You could drill a series of little holes and stitch it together with wire or try plastic welding or glueing or a combination of both as a temporary fix until you can get a new one.
 
Just buy a new fan shroud. Radiator cooling efficiency will be compromised. You can get a new Toyota one for little over $100
 
Mine (2517) dropped in and fit perfectly. Glad you got yours installed. Yes, the fan shroud is very important. Get a new one and install it.
 
Thanks everyone. I'm going to repair the one I have since I can't get the fan off. Otherwise I don't know how I would get the the new shroud on without removing the radiator again.

The fan comes off by just loosening 4 nuts!
 
Correct. One of the nuts is stripped and I can't get it off. I've removed the fan in the past easily but I can't get the one nut off.

Do what you have to do to remove it. New studs are available.
 
My fan shroud looks like it has been plastic welded in a couple places by the PO. I have wiggled and tugged on it many times (done a few fan clutch jobs) and it has held together fine.

I also have boogered up a few of the fan clutch nuts and a fan nut. Ended up turning two off with a vice grip, breaking a stud on one. The studs can be easily replaced, so just do what you can to get it apart and then replace studs/nuts as needed once it's off. :hillbilly:
 
The bolt isn't stripped but rather the threads. The bolt turns with a tiny bit of torque but doesn't go anywhere. Bolt extractors do not fit in the tight area.

Flat tip screw driver or sharp chisel under the nut/wrench while you turn the nut.

Or pry between the head of the stud and back side of the clutch, while turning the nut. This often requires a spacer, hunk of wood on the clutch.
