CSC Monthly Phoenix Meeting
February 22, 2019 @ 7:30 pm
Tempe, AZ

First Time Guests

- @Somebodyelse5 (I missed your actual name, sorry!) – Owns a Silver ’99 UZJ100 with 240k miles, and a ’97 white FZJ80 with 230k miles (no lockers :frown:). The 100 has been modded with a rear bumper, lift, drawers, 200 wheels, cut out tailgate, etc. @Somebodyelse5 has been posting all over the club forum for a while but this is the first time he’s made it to a meeting.

- Nick @ncavi10 (brother to Somebodyelse5) @ncapi10 owns a white ’00 UZJ100 215k miles, used to belong to his mother (now she has a 200!); unfortunately, his 👸 drives a JEEP.:moon:

- Ryan @AZcruiser; ’14 200 50k miles owned a little more than a year, took of mud flaps, took off running boards, waiting on the wife to allow new tires. If anyone knows any good tips to make your tires wear out faster, he’d like to hear them…

Run of the Month

February - @Saddletramp led the February 15-18 Presidents’ Day long weekend up to Northern Arizona (Monument Valley area) and southern Utah. It was a huge adventure filled with gale-force winds and blowing snow on night #1 from midnight-6am. The wind resulted in scattered camp items and snapped poles for those in ground tents, forcing 3 members to leave early, sadly. Luckily the following day the group found a canyon with terrific scenery and a perfect campsite, which resulted in a great night. The trails the group had planned did not work out because of mud, but overall it was a great trip and we will have to go back soon. There was a lot of awesome drone footage taken as well (see the thread). Unfortunately, the group had to come back one day early due to a massive snowstorm rolling in that would have made camping and further travel a bad idea. Approximately 1000 miles traveled round trip.

March – As of this meeting nobody has volunteered for the March run—we are encouraging the Tucson cohort to organize something this month.

April - @LandCruiserPhil has volunteered to lead April ROTM.
April second run - @murf is hosting the ♦ 2nd COPPER STATE CLASSIC CRUIZE 4-13-19 only for trucks '89 and older! Was a great run last year.

May – Available.
June – Available.
July – Available.

Anyone interested in leading a ROTM, please let us know! Everyone is encouraged to lead if they want to, even if you are new! We are happy to co-lead or give someone ideas of routes to take.:D

New Business

HAM Test Challenge - Wave 3, Apr27 - Interested? The past few years we have had several "waves" of club members work together to study and obtain their HAM Radio licenses. The club would like to strongly encourage anyone who is interested in communicating via HAM radio to obtain their license so they can legally talk on the radio. The technician test is not difficult if you study the material, and @LongDuck is a great resource if you have questions and need advice on study materials and methods. He is organizing "wave 3" for later in April if anyone is interested in getting their licenses. It's a very cool thing to do and then you can give everyone else a hard time who hasn't done it! 🆒

Drawing of the Month

@Mattman was the lucky winner of the Drawing of the Month, which was a Campfire in a Can! (also Happy Birthday!)👏👏Keep an eye out on the forum for a link to new DOTM items and the link for raffle tickets! CSC •••March•••Drawing of the Month•••NOW LIVE!!!
