OK I know this will sound crazy to some - but has anyone ever fitted a cruise control system to a 2F Fj55? Even with 3.70 axles and a H55 their will be a lot of seat time to some of the parks I want to visit. I'd rather just aim her than have to pedal too. So any ideas or experience?

:steer:

Thanks

Yer just crazy man....

How goes the e-brake cable order?

hand throttle?

Cable

Got the cable - thanks for the lead the guys were great and they looked up your order to get me the right stuff - will install it this weekend. Also got TCase shift linkage from from Georg so I'm going to try and button everything up this weekend. With open holes in the floor --------- its Freaking HOT!!!! in there!

My shifter is really close to my pedal leg, so i'm also gonna try and bend it a little to get a little more clearence. But I love 2400RPMs at 70MPH!!!

See your going out of the country for awhile - it must be hard to leave the late area. I had a buddy that lived there - geeez I wanted to move there but just could't figure out a way for a consistent check.

Hand Throttle

Jim from Downey has a hand throttle set up on his site - asked him this morning if he knew of any 55 instalations - he didn't know of any so i'm gonna check the firewall out to see how much ingenuity i'd need get it in mine. I used to use a hand throttle on my 40 when driving down to San Felipe in the "olden days" - and it worked 'bitchin'

Thanks

Being that i'm 6'5" I had to put on a smaller wheel to get leg room, but haven't installed the power steering yet, so it's a wee bit harder to torque on.

I always keep my coworkers busy with my land cruiser spotting in those third world countries i work in. They get sick of it after a while, but hey!
As a forester, we are always out in the bush, so I end up seeing more land cruisers than I would in the cities. I've started telling my clients that as a part of the contract, they have to pick me up in one, or at least rent one, especially a diesel. Ha!

I did not know Jim started a new business after Downey.
What is his site?

PS: not crazy to want Cruise in a Cruiser!

how bout this.....spring return hand pull cable with a brake switch actuated release ratchet......maybe a simple solenoid operated catch to pull away the ratchet pawl.....

My M35, a 2 1/2 ton Military truck, has a hand throttle. I'm sure you could adapt the cable to your use. Plenty of surplus stores.

Thanks Pigheaded. That just might do it. They have the driveshaft magnets and pickup sensor.

Thanks Much!!!

I recall that JC Whitney used to sell an old-school cruise control.
These days, you could probably google up something pretty quick...

Rostra 250-1223 Universal Electric Cruise Control Kit

hahahaaha.....nuclearlemon had one of their cruise controls. was the first rig i had with cruise control. except, the p.o. mounted the cruise brain box on the inside firewall right behind the brake pedal. first time the caliper locked up and wiped out the rotor, the cruise went bye bye.

Sorry my spell check deal on the IPad changed it when I wasn't looking ----sorry.

:-)

Fancy Phone

GPS, Compass, Altimeter, Maps, Star Maps, shows tomorrow's weather, news, flashlight, music, and will hook me up to Mudd while i'm under the cruiser in the garage. Wont call, but will video conference. Now don't know what I did before. ;)
