I would hazard a guess that is the reason for the crack... Maybe bad materials coupled with who knows what. I would listen to the people on this board and go for a reman or new Toyota. I would not shy away from a reman.

The crack extends down the head bolt hole and into the head. heres a pic looking in the water oulet.

Yeah I imagine the Chinese ones crack quite easy. unsure of what would have actually caused it as I have never had it overheat. Unless it has been there since the previous owner had it (bought the 80 only a few months ago) and it has just gradually got bad enough to start mixing the oil and water.
