Low water bridge on Warrior River in Blount, Co., AL. Few years back an out-of-state woman was in the area to visit relatives. I think this happened at night, where she was unfamiliar with the river crossing and it was flooded from heavy rain. Her car was swept downstream ca. 1/4 mile. Her disappearance was a mystery for a few weeks until the water dropped and a couple of kayakers saw the car. She was still in the car. Since then the county has placed gates on the road to close it off when water levels rise to the roadway. The car is still in the river, I saw it last year.
It is an impediment for fish and other aquatic species. If the water is very low critters cannot go upstream through the culverts. Some local low water bridges like this are rebuilt to span the stream or have an opening that does not elevate the bottom, and that would allow fish, etc. to move above and below the bridge under all water levels.

Got Lucky. We were on one end and were early. Weren't a ton of folks out on our end of the beach.
