I'd buy a nice 40 to drive, a beat 80 to wheel and stay in a hotel!

Gotta knock the dust off this thing badly

@BMThiker you have any idea if a 4th gen rack will fit on a GX? @dnp are the roof lines on the GX that much different than the 4Runners?

I emailed him. We'll see what he says.

I know the roof of a GX is taller than a 4Runner's, but as for the other dimensions, I would be guessing

I've always been intrigued by that type of setup. If it is easy to pull in/out, then packing/unpacking/storage/etc. would supposedly be simplified. Having full access to the vehicle from the tent would be pretty neat. But if its a PITA to come and go, it would be a no go for me.

I would consider that tent as similar to a RTT annex or changing room for those who sleep on a platform in the back of their Cruiser. I used one with the 40-Camper years ago.

Yeah I decided to not go with that set up. It would be nice for what Lash said and to serve as a base camp, but I'm sure it would be annoying to back into each time and reattach. I had plenty of room with my platform to change in the truck. The benefit over annex is you can just drive off and leave it. I went with the ARB awning because I figured it could be more useful for things besides just camping.
