Thanks Nolen ,
The first time to Moab was really was our 1st experience together with trails with rocks and shear drop offs.
We did some trails earlier and thought shafer would be a nice scenic drive. It was consider an easy trail which it was.
So Sheila and I proceeded to go up shafer's trail which was flat in our rental heep. It turned out to be very narrow with switchbacks. Not very comfortable especially since it was a two way.

Sheila was driving up shafer and a toyota was making its way down . The yota was on the "safe" side near the rock face and we were on the drop off side. sheila wasn't about to drive any closer to the edge so she forced the yota to the drop off side by driving on the wrong side of "street" .

I didn't argue with her...

It Reminded me of the top gear episode when they were traveling on the, I believe they called it,the most dangerous road in the world. It was in Russia or some country other than the US ; )

Now that we have more trails under our belt it shouldn't be a problem, but needed to know the options.

We are in for the rim. Well I'm in, wife may be tied and gaged.:steer:

Jim and I were in our buggies on Rusty Nail (side extreme trail off Golden Spike) and he got vertigo on one of the trails and I had to drive his buggy, then go back and get mine. There is a 300' drop that you pretty much have to run your tire right up against. It was a tag scary, but my buddy Justin does it every New Years Eve, often in the snow so I figured I could handle it on dry ground.

I am not going to sugar coat it, there are some spooky trails out there. You need to make sure your brakes and emergency brakes are in top shape for this trip.

Sounds like a big wrenching weekend is in the future. Paging Bossman! Might need ya!

No answer for last hour at Canyonland's park HQ.

My hands started sweating just reading this. Heights are not my thing.

Stop scaring people Nolen!

My son Fernando(lil'one) and I went to you tube last night and saw some videos of the places mentioned.

once we saw them, we looked at each other w/ grin on our face.

...later he said, "I don't think Mom is going to like it!"

Keep in mind he mentions above Brakes and E-brake should be working!

weren't you tying to fix your E-brake?

Hey! what about the overnite camping?

do we need to bring a tent?

I have my military trailer w/ my tent! ...would this work? or need to put it on top of the cruiser?

...some how I understood that we would go out during the day and back to the KOA!

Note: I am not complaining, I just need to make the proper arrangements for this trip.

and if it does not work for us, we'll stick with the 40's

This trip is geeting expensive already and haven't even left!

...from the videos we saw my 80 needs sliders and a set of new shoes and about 40% stock ownership of Exxon!:grinpimp:

looking forward to this trip!

E-Brake was rebuilt last year and working well, Will adjust before the ride. Line locks installed and in the process of wiring now. I hate running wire in a 40. The wire shirt hanger is my friend.

Hey dad..... think I haven't already thought about that:flipoff2:

Anything else I need to check with you on about this trip:meh:

Clutchee I am w/ you! ...Well done SIR!

I was put in charge of this trip by the highly esteemed board of directors. Love it or leave it, it is your call.

EDIT, also remember, when I am answering your questions or addressing concerns such as space requirement and other future issues that will come up in this thread, my answers may be directed at the group as much as the person that posted the question.

All you need to say is " I am in charge and you ain't!":flipoff2:

where have I heard something similar to this?

how about the line to the oil pressure gauge? is that still working?:hillbilly:

I myself scare of hi places!

Funny you should ask... I checked it last weekend. The angle I had it running before was bad and put stress on the plastic line. When we fixed it on the trail, I rerouted for less stress. Seems to have worked.

I think sliders are one of the body armor things that will be most necessary, rear bumper being second and a front bumper third.

The rear bumper takes a beating at Moab as there are a ton of drops that you drag the ass of the wagons on. There were many spots where my rear tires were off the ground and the rear bumper was holding up the entire truck. It really sold me on how strong the Kaymar is.

The 40's are going on the overnight. Bodean was just bitch slapping me so I did not piss off Clutchee too bad. I am not sure how that happened, but apparently I need to chill out, so sorry folks.

We are booking the whole week at KOA but leaving for one night for the overnight. Check out the itinerary I posted. Everything here posted is 100% optional. We will probably only be gone 1.5 days if you want to sit this part out. If you come, the trailer should be fine as the trail is moderate. The ratings on the Moab trails from the book are very over rated. Elephant Hill is far far from "Most Difficult" for example.

OK,

Since I can't get the stoners at Canyonlands to answer the phone, I printed out forms and sent them in for the 9 that have confirmed thus far.

I requested the date of June 27th and Fort Bottom as the campsite.

We will see.

I have to have a form and a credit card for every 3 vehicles. No charge for riders for the permit, but we will have to pay for Canyonlands National Park access on the day we go there. It will be good for the whole week so we won't have to pay when we go to Elephant Hill.

I have a National Park Annual Pass and with this trip and if you make a side trip to Arches during the week, it will easily pay for itself.

OK, under my credit card I have Me, Chris and Lenny. You two owe me a $10 spot whenever

Lash put up his credit card for Clutchee and Bodean.

Jrob put his up for JO and Bossman.

When I get 3 more confirmations I will put in another form with one of the next three's credit card.

For budgeting purposes, what do the assorted passes cost that we will need based on our schedule? Thanks Nolen!
