I have been AWOL...just a bit busy at work...but, I believe I am in for this trip. There are few things I need to verify, but I should be good to go.

Rough Itinerary for the Week

Arrive Sunday

Unload and run up to Moab Rim for a sunset run. The first mile of this trail is terrifying but our crew can handle it.

I want to make sure we go down in the light so we will travel on the trail as long as possible to make sure we are down off the trail before dark. We may go up and watch the sunset and then head back down. All depends on time.

Trail is rated as DIFFICULT in the guide book.

Monday

Leave early for overnight trip to White Rim Trail. We will be running the trail Clockwise. I would like to get most of the drive done on the first day. Depending on how well we travel, Fort Bottom would be where I would like to get. There is a real nice hike there and at the end of the day it may be cool enough to do it. This will be a dusty, hot trip and you need to make sure your Cruiser will go 150 miles on a tank of fuel. Trail is rated MODERATE

Tuesday

Come out from White Rim Trail and unpack and unwind. Should be pretty early. Head out for an afternoon run on Fins and Things

Wednesday

Leave early and do Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike, Gold bar Rim and home. Trails are rated DIFFICULT

Thursday

Elephant Hill. The trailhead is 73 miles south of Moab. Some may not want to shoulder this kind of drive for the day...down and back, but I can attest that it is the most beautiful trail in Moab, bar none. If your Cruiser cannot make it 200 miles on a tank, it is best to tow it down there. Again, we will leave early. Trail is rated DIFFICULT

Friday

Hell's Revenge. Those of us leaving on Friday can pack up and get everything ready and then head out to Hell's Revenge and enjoy the trail as long or as short as you like. 3-4 hours to run and play on the trail. We may end up over here before Friday, but this is the planned day to run it. Trail is rated DIFFICULT

I will probably play in the Moab area and then head out mid to late afternoon and head toward MS.

I just did a little searching on the White Rim Trail. I did not know we needed a permit, so I am going to need to know who all is in for this part of the trip.

Also, the road has been washed out, but it looks like it will be open soon.

EDIT: 3 vehicle limit on reservations. I am going to ask around and see if they are really necessary.

Also, NO PETS on White Rim Trail or Elephant Hill.

I thought you were bringing the 40? Overnight in a 40 with 3 adults?

Speaking of 40's, guys, read up on this trail. It is long, bumpy, dusty and remote. Just be informed. I am calling on permits tomorrow.
