Yeah. I've read that too. Bought some ammo that was in .223 spot on shelf but didn't look closely at box till later.

On the upside I did get 200 rounds of 22 for 15 bucks.

Are you sure your upper is .223? Just because the lower is stamped .223 doesn't mean it is chambered in .223. My vintage colt has a .223 stamp on the lower, but the barrel is chambered in 5.56. Check your barrel for stamps.

As a side note, I have never seen a documented report of a .223 chambered rifle turning into a pipe bomb over the use of 5.56 ammo in it. I'm sure the opportunity for such catastrophic failure has presented itself billions of times over the last 50 years. I know I have run 5.56 through my mini 14 and still have all my fingers and both eyes.

Yah. My father in law gave me a colt ar he said he got about 15 years ago. It's barreled in 5.53 and apparently has had many rounds through it.

I haven't shot it at all. But, I was under the impression that either shell would be ok

Yeah, .40 is the easiest to find right now by a wide margin... that's because I own zero .40's..

Preach on....Amen.

What's wrong with a 40? I haven't been able ti find very many 40 boxes. I am not buying them to store them up for the next civil war or anything...I just wanted to have some for the range.

I REALLY can't find any 357 rounds. I am beginning to think they don't exist but on Gunbroker and GunsAmerica and I refuse to spend what they are going for on those sites!

If a local store has any ammo in stock here in Jackson, it seems like it's going to be .40. There's nothing wrong with .40. I just stick to 9mm mainly. Academy on countyline has had .40 at the customer service counter the last several times I've been in there, but it's been a week or so since i've been.

.357sig is an odd bird anyway, I seldom see more than a couple boxes of it at a time in normal times.. it's just not that popular of a round.

EDIT to add:

Natchez shooters supply has sellier and bellot .357sig fmj for 40 cents a round, shipping is usually high from NSS.

Ammoman.com has your choice of Speer or Federal for $499/1000 delivered. It's been a few years since I've ordered from them.

I had a 41 mag super Blackhawk once. Guy handloaded the ammo that sold me the gun.

It was bad ass. Killed a few does with it and traded it for a bassani header for my 350x 3 wheeler lol

There's one for sale in the classifieds here that I'd have already bought if the guy was local. Just not worth the hassle of shipping and transfer fees. I've never had one, and I'd probably hate it just as much as I hate shooting the rest of the 'magnum" loads.. so that's helped me fight the urge to buy it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into those. I did find some 40 rounds at Discount Hunt and Fish on Lakeland. I bought a couple of boxes.

I have a Glock 26 so I like 9MM rounds too. I haven't found any of those around really either.

Ah... 357 mag is still a bit lighter shooting than spec'd out 10mm. 10mm is akin to 41 mag... kind of in between the .357 and the .44.

.357sig is basically a 9mm bullet in necked down .40 cal brass.

with a lot more gunpowder behind it from what I understand....
