Hello all,

I have a 1994 HDJ81 with 105k km, my wife and I are going to be starting a family and I’ve been selling the Landcruiser to get into something a bit newer and something with a bit more space.

It’s a 1994 VXL limited, center locking.
Brakes have been updated to power stops
Bearings redone
New fuel filter and oil just changed
Rad switched out to new, with a coolant flush
Diffs have been flushed
Transfer case has been resealed and new fluid
Transmission cooler added into system
New window seals
New rear window seals
New fender flare gaskets

Mods:
3 inch dobinsons ims lift with panhard bars and link bars
Delta panhard level kit
ARB front bumper
4x4 labs rear
White knuckle off-road sliders
35” nitto ridge grapplers
17” stealth customs series F5
Full drawer system in the rear
Fridge slide (will be keeping the fridge)
Prinsu full roof rack
Bluetti charger (will be keeping bluetti battery)
Rough country light controller
Baja designs LP6’s
Baja designs squadrons
Manta 3” stainless straight pipe exhaust

It’s not driven in winter at all and it’s undercoated before each winter just because.

Looking to hopefully get around 35,000 for it but looking to see what the going rate for these are these days

Damn good looking rig 😍

Imma dad with and hdj81. He is 16 months. If the reason is car seat, keep it. Everything fits, including our big ole dog.
Agree. One kid even two fit fine in an 80. With plenty of room for camp gear. Take the tent off the top and swap to sleeping on the ground for a tiny kid until you can trust them to climb the ladder. Worst case pulling a lightweight trailer frees up even more space inside, and put the tent on the trailer.

What newer vehicle would you get that would compare to the reliability of a diesel 80? They are a lot more comfortable than many new cars!

something with a bit more space
Add a 3rd row or get a small trailer for hauling. 80s have plenty of space!

If your goal is to just have a car payment/warranty and not worry about doing your own work, I can understand that. But in my opinion, for the price of one of these rigs, you won't get nearly as much out of a new vehicle.

Oh I do all my own work, I’m not concerned about warranty or anything like that. Mostly just newer for ease of driveability for my wife

My wife is driving our '93 HDJ81 and loves it. My buddy got his wife a 92 HDJ81. I guess, I still don't see the issue. They drive nice.
:smug:

Keep it!!!!!

I kind of understand. My wife doesn't want to drive the 80 and she had no problem hopping in the FJCruiser or GX470. Although to be fair she hasnt' even tried in the two years we've had it. I need to change that soon. Probably on a trail ride or something. But she's intimidated by the height of it, plus it doesn't have a front sway and no ABS. :steer:

Where are you located?

I am looking for a diesel 80. Do you have a link to more photos or do you plan on adding more?
