yes... i'm just sharing some links to the magic part numbers...source of my engine will probably be a salvage yard. and transmission too. 6.0's have not been to cheap from what I've seen if I go with the 6.0
I picked up a 6.0 a few years back for a swap in my old 99 Tahoe and got it at a local junkyard in Anniston, AL for $1100 with all accessories and wiring harness.

A great website to use for salvaged engines is Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

Like a dashboard??? Lol

Keep your 60
Put in auto trans
Sell H55 to me :)

man....that hurt....why you calling me out like that...thought we were friends.. :)

Of course who knows where the price might go on the 5speed... :)

I have had both, and as far as expedition trips and mild wheeling, the 100 is the one. However, having had 2 80 series now, I love the 80 for it's highway ability and sturdy drive train for the trails. IMO, the best all around build seems to be an 80 with 4" lift and 35's. I haven't regeared, and it has good highway RPM's. The low range could use a transfer case gear set to lower that, but for a DD, it works well. The 2 100's we owned as family cars over the years were really comfortable and sturdy, even though I never took them off road, they were awesome on road trips.

Having said that, man, I still have 60 fever, and I don't know what medicine to take to get rid of it, lol

My $.02

I say spend the money on the 60 and get the end result of what you are looking at a lesser cost.

Yeah....for now that's what I'm doing. Regearing....."re-lockering"....some other minor things I need to fix or improve on. Later on if I feel the need to have something in better shape I'll just buy an 80 or 100 and start the madness again.

I do have my dash...it just happens to not be in the truck at present time :)

I danced this decision around in every possible way.... GM auto trans swap is likely but down-stream at some point. Hope to get things together by June at some point.

For the best "Land Cruiser Experience" you want an FJ60/62.

For the best Land Cruiser, you want an 80 series. It can do everything well, but not perfectly.

For the best motor, you probably want a newer LS from GM.

For the most fun, you want what ever you have.

Seriously, do not stress on what truck you have, just go somewhere in the truck you have.
