Is there an update on status of this project?

It's been 2 years going onto 3......so maybe dead but im 🤞

Put me down for these too. Already put myself in the Badges thread. Not sure when I’ll need them but the hoarder in me says accumulate as much as possible :grinpimp:

Just (last week) I received a sample but it needs to be revised. The color is off and I’d like a few more of the shapes refined before I can give an approval for production.

The base of the trim is actually very close. Weight and texture wise. Color is off so that’ll have be changed in the formula. Process like this generally has be revised various times until it’s correct. I don’t have a timeline yet as there needs some modifications to be made. I understand if you have to buy from a salvage yard. I don’t want to hold up any projects.
I think its been over a year since an update? Any word? I would love the trim. Thank you for taking such a project on, I know how much work it must be.

Looks like the last update from @Norcal510 was back in July, so not quite a year.
If you need another rig to test these on, I’m fairly local and can drive to the bay. Lemme know!

I'm in for a set pleaee

Added your name to the list.

For anyone wondering what’s the latest. I put the project on hold for the last few months. I’ll be back to getting this done next month on the two projects badges and belt molding.

Thanks everyone.
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to this.

More rich chocolaty collectors edition trim please…. Is it a mall crawl fashion faux pas to slap 40th trim on a 96? Asking for a friend.

If you are impatient like me, i bought a 2nd set for my other 80 while I wait for a set from Norcal510. Again, I prefer no lettering

Just to add a bit more context.

I had a very hard time trying to find a manufacturer that can execute this accurately for a reasonable price. Surprisingly molds are very expensive for how small the belt trim is. Unfortunately, each side requires its own mold.

The hadrest part is finding someone who can add the metallic color under the top layer. I ordered a set of the reproductions to see if all the reviews were as described. Yes, the dimensions are all wrong. The manufacturer told me straight up “we can’t consistently apply the metallic on the top layer”. I could clearly see there was an issue in manufacturing when I received my set. There’s a lot of debris in the metallic.

After a year of trying a few different manufacturers. I found someone that could recreate but it’s been a slow process. Luckily these don’t have the Toyota logo like the badges. Nobody wanted to touch those. That was even more difficult but I found a solution. Someone on here said they had a set of trim I could borrow. If you’re still out there and willing to let me borrow. I only need them to compare colors. Dm me please.
