Have an 04 100 series with 2uzfe. Has 263k miles. Recently bought. Test drive went great. Driving home cel came on along with VCS OFF & VCS TRAC lights as well, first time code was cylinder 2 misfire. Read that is common when getting gas with one that has sat and with old gas cap. Bought new gas cap reset codes. Next day all lights came back and code came back as air box maf. Cleaned air box and sensor, reset codes. Next day all lights came back, codes come back as downstream bank 2 02 sensors. Replace both. Next day all come back, code comes back as p0430 with 3 tabs on something with the evap system. Now I don’t have the money at the moment to buy catalytic converters (even the cheap ones), nor the money for a new evap valve, question is, Would I be able to go to work (approx 32 miles each way, 34 minute trip each way) for a couple weeks and be okay till I would be able to afford professional diagnosis and treatment?
New to the Land Cruiser owners. Thank you all for the advice.
Yes except for one DTC (MAF sensor). MAF sensor is very sensitive. If malfunctions, can result in burning up CAT very fast. Replace it with new OEM from Toyota, is best.
If gas cap old, or after market. Replace it with OEM. This may clear up EVAP (undisclosed) DTC.
P0302 if fuel related, from being parked to long. Could be a clogged fuel injector. Running fuel cleaner, like 44K, may help.
Make sure spark plugs aren't walking out:
TICK TICK TICK POP POP POP is a ticking time bomb, often mistaken as exhaust manifold crack or gasket leak leak.
ALERT, ALERT, ALERT: Spark plugs are working themselves loose. "Walking Out" Then blowing out of head, taking their female threads of head with them! Very damaging!
You think TICK or POP, is blown exhaust gasket or crack exhaust manifold. Replace the spark plugs. If tick doesn't go away, then you've confirm exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks anywhere need to be taken care of. But they're less damaging if damaging at all. But, if you blow...
Make sure no vacuum leaks and good air filter.
Also engine coolant system running a peak
I've a 06LC w/192K I just bought. In reading history I found PO complained of engine temp raising when both front and rear AC on. Toyota Dealership diagnosed with clogged radiator fins. Recommended new OEM radiator, $600 for the US spec Radaitor plus coolant and labor. They should have added radiator cap and thermostat to job, as best practice.
Got me to thinking about the radiators I've been replacing. All have debris built up on lower third.
This one hand some extra grasses along with general clogging on lower third.
Over the years/miles debit builds up in condenser and...
