Well earlier this week I missed out on a CO2 tank, regulator and 3 piece air tool set for only $150. Then yesterday I saw a regulator for $20 so I thought I would check it out.
Looks like I got a good deal! LINK
Now I just need to keep an eye out for a tank and I will be able to air-up on the trails.....

Can't you just go to a gas seller and get a rental each time? I own my own but I think you could just go get like a 10 lb swap unit each time you fill up. They're a little easier to get because not every place fills up my tank, but most gas sellers will exchange if you don't care about the tank.

FWIW. Dan.

I picked up a 10 lb tank + 150 psi fixed reg. for around 130-150 at Airgas. I do not remember exactly because it was some time ago. I remember the sales guy saying a 20 lb cylinder was only a few $ more (5-8) to fill but I wanted a compact unit. Of course I bought a new hose and some fittings but you sound like you're in the right area.

I have a 20# bottle. It costs me $18 and change to fill it up at the local welding supply place. I can usually fill my tires up (35"s) and my wifes FJ tires (33"s) atleast 4 trips before I don't feel comfortable with what is left in the bottle. :D

I wouldnt bother with the gauges, just another thing to break.

I would recommend a nice 150psi unit from Ultimate Air:

EXpress™ regulator

You dont want to go cheap on the regulator, because the cheaper ones can easily freeze, crack, leak, trust me, i know! :D

Anyway, i have run one as shown above for years with ZERO issues!
