Hi guys,

My clutch is too hard to push. This is happening since I bought the car (80 series / 1HDT) (almost 1 year ago).
I though that it was a matter of rebuilding the Clutch, so I took down the transmission and took the clutch to the Shop.
I took some pictures about this.

The Flywheel was worked as well.
The Release bearing was replaced for a new one.

But after doing this, the clutch is still the same, is still hard to push, same as before.
I tried to apply some Lubriplate from the outside, to the Diagram Spring but no difference...
I do not know what to do now... The Master and Slave pumps are not losing liquid.

Any ideas?

Did you lube the splines on the shaft?

Is it a NEW clutch that is hard to push or the SAME clutch that's hard to push?

If it's the SAME one, then something is either binding in the pressure plate or the hose between the master and slave has deteriorated and may be choking it. Check the had lines for a kink where a rock might have hit a line and cause a restriction.

If it's a NEW one, is it the right one for the application? I had a 4x4 Chevy that I intentionally installed the clutch from a C60 truck in it for the holding power since I used it to tow a LOT. The pedal would make your left leg shake while sitting at a stop light.

You don't want any lubrication on the fingers of the pressure plate. That's what the throwout bearing is for. Clutches and lubrication don;t play well together.

Otherwise, I would say a clutch master and slave rebuild are in order and replace the hose between.

Yes I Lubed the splines on the shaft.
It is the same Clutch. I will try to get a Master and Slave repair kits to see if it makes any difference.
Will check the lines as well tonight.

If you have it out of the truck, see if there are grooves on the pivot points where the fulcrum of the fingers push on the pressure plate. Maybe they are grooved from a lot of time holding in the clutch.

Does it help any to actuate it over and over and over to maybe clean out corrosion?

Is this a Daily Driver? Did you recently take it for a swim? Lots of things can cause annoying issues like this.

I see there are NEW bolts on the pivot arms. Did you do those or has this been refaced? Are those bolts too tight and not allowing the proper movement?

I feel there is more to the story that I'm not seeing.

It's on the truck right now... I'm a daily driver and everytime is the same.
No water has gone in there.
The new bolts were there after took the Clutch to the shop, no idea if they are too tight, they should not.

I think that I may found the problem...

The CLutch has a Booster... On the guide it says this:

I pressed it to the mid point and started the engine, and felt no difference.

Yup! I'll bet that's it!

I've never had one with a "power clutch"...

Guys I need help!
Don't know what the problem is... I have no clue...
Check this out:

That is the diagram made by me.
Here is the thing... The vacuum line that goes for the brake booster works fine. There is enough vacuum to brake without any issue.
The line which goes to the Clutch Booster, does not has the same pressure from what I checked.... That is why my clutch is so hard.

If I switch the vacuum lines just like this:

It works fine! The Clutch becomes soft, but the brakes are too hard now... It's suicide to have it this way, the car does not brake like it's supposed to........

What do I do? As you guys can see that is just a "T" that unites the lines, which means that both lines should have the same vacuum pressure.
Also, If I bypass the vacuum reservoir, is the same, there is no difference.

I tried to use another tube for the line that goes to the clutch, same result...
I will get a Vacuum Gauge this coming Friday, to see how much do I get on each line, and coming from the Pump directly.

I found the problem, after a while haha.
The tube going to the Clutch Booster was stuck, poor air was going through. I tried wash it with thinner several times with no success.
I just cover the line to the clutch from passing air and made a T on the line for the brake booster. Now it works fine, but I think that there is a leak on the reservoir because it does not holds more than 2 brake pushes. I will search more a after market one maybe.

brake booster setup without vacuum it's several times harder than non booster setup .. so you might want to go that route ( noon booster setup ) and be happy ..
