Club Work Day May 8th Manchester, TN

Just thought I'd throw this out there for any and all who might want to lend a hand.

We'll be having a Club workday Saturday, May 8th. starting around 9:00 CST.

Location: Manchester, TN at Roger's shop. Exit 105 on I-24

We need to sandblast and paint the Club's 62' Car Hauler in preparation for the Alaska Trek. We'll need some help with getting it ready to blast. This involves removing all the lights, etc and cutting and welding in some new material that has rotted in a few places. Nothing too serious!

The blasting will be done commercially, and Rob's gonna paint it the following weekend, so we might need some folks to help either 15th or the 22nd if you can't make it on the 8th.

This will also be a great opportunity to bring the rigs, sit around and drink beer! We never seem to get a chance to do that. Feel free to bring along some smaller projects if you need an extra hand, or if you're not comfortable doing something and want someone more experienced looking over you're shoulder. Feel free to bring friends and introduce them, or if you're reading this as a lurker this would be a great chance to get out and meet some Cruiserheads.

We'll grill some burger's and have chips and drinks for everyone who shows.

Those pics were on the way out to Moab last year. The camo 40 is Daryl Hornsby (wanabecruisen) and Rob Theurer.

THis year's Trek will be Roger in the 6.5TD SOA'd 60 he's in the middle of building. Me in the 6.5TD FZJ80, that just got back from ACC yesterday. Rob in his 6.2 linked 40, and Luis Caraballo in a SOA'd 40

Passenger's are my brother Andy with me, Daryl's riding with Roger, Rob's taking his daughter, and Luis is bringing our old friend Archie who took his 40 on the last trek

Work Day Pics!

Well, I don't know about the other two, bu MH and I got up a little after 7 after punching snooze a couple times and then got a s*** together. Loaded the 40 - yep, the 40 - the plan being that if we were still near Rome when it broke we could get an AAA tow back to Rome or if we were close to Manchester, Todd could come get us with his trailer. But we made it! So no problems on the way at all! I do not know who was more astonished, me or MH.

One on scene we helped get the trailer into the shop and then Todd, me and MH removed all the 400 or so lights off the damn thing while Roger cut away some of the bad metal.

It seems she didn't want her picture taken today. Dunno why. She actually lent a good hand removing lights which took up most of the "morning".

Then Roger and Todd worked on cutting some more of the cancer out. I spent some time drilling out some rivets and removing the last of the stubborn lights and a few other accessories. I wonder where MH went...

There she is, three hours from home and in another state even!!!!

On the drive home we started encountering a little overheating again but the worst was yet to come, pulled in the garage and found PS fluid everywhere under the hood. At least it got us home! But that was all good when we popped a couple of the beers we bought at an off the beaten path beer store in Fort Oglethorpe. It was recommended by Todd and has a helluva selection. It is located on Lafayette Ave next to the Big Lots. I was so taken I forgot to take pics of the cooler!

Thanks for the summary of how the day went and the pictures. By the way, I don't understand pictures and my bride's reaction either. On the 30th, we went on a 52 mile bike ride as training for the Tour de Cure. After the ride, I snapped a few pictures of everyone packing up and just socializing which Carolyn later posted so every one could view or grab what they liked. The following picture is one I snapped of Carolyn and she culled out 'because she looked too fat'. Fat is not even close to my assessment, so I don't understand. Welcome to the 'not understanding our brides club'.
