FWIW In my very UN-educated opinion, there are straps and snatchs. Both have there place. A snatch line "bungie" is to be used differently than just a "static "pull" line. Different tools for different recovery/situations.
With that said I have a 24k snatch line.... and winch now.

and I really need a tree saver now :)

just my simple understanding and thoughts.

Got all that, thanks. It reminds me, I have a front bumper with winch out on the side of the house. Suppose when I get that mounted I'll have to replace the old cable.

What he said. (And well said! )

I bought a strap from a company in Portland that makes straps and webbing for heavy lifting (think cranes, warehouses, and shipping containers). They can make whatever you want for a very reasonable price, and have insanely high load ratings. Seems to take less space and lighter for the load rating and length than your typical straps as well. I posted up on them a while back here in the JSC forum...

Ian...the new guy in the club sold his 4runner and wants to pick up a 40 or a 1st gen 4runner in the $3500 range. Anyone got any good leads. We tried to contact a guy on CL with a 40 for $1200 but got no response. It sounds like a 40 would be his first choice as the 4runners are easy to come by in that amount.
Thanks

Emailed him an offer.

I got an extra tub if that one is shot. It's the tub on the 40 my dad has, we got a nice one we are waiting to put on.

I got an extra frame and front axle...gas tanks(s), al has an extra rear axle after I gave him my old one... I got extra springs, manual steerng box, probably at least one set of extra shocks. There is a cage on cl for super cheap... bimini it, spring over it and call it a day. Within the next year or so I plan on pulling my 350 outta the pig and I have an extra 465/205 if you wanted to go that route but I think it should be all toyota..so eventually do a 2f and 4spd and wheel the piss outta it!

Nice, Well we will see. I emailed and called (lft msg). Hopefully he will respond.....

however I will need to steal someone's trailer to get it home if everything works out

he said it was complete and in an older post i believe he said it ran but rough! unfortunately my dad took the car trailer to florida so i wont get it back til next summer. jerod may have a tow bar setup we could adapt.

I've seen some people do a 2F bottom end to a 3FE top end, basically makes a stroker. Bunch more power and stays all Toyota overbuilt. :hhmm:

I would give him $1 and get the bill of sale and give him the remainder when you get the title. If it is truly a lost title in the state of Oregon you will be released the info of the owner with submittal of a bill of sale and then you will have to contact them and get a bill of sale and hope they don't tell you it was stolen but they never filed charges or whatever. Or you just have someone file a lien on it.
