Clean '63 in Hemet, CA - Chevy engine

Could this be the earliest FJ40? FJ25 rear wheel well opening. Air inlet on the driver's apron. Or is that a reflector?. No shifter on the dash or holes from the shifter. All things that would be FJ25. Things that make it a pre 63 FJ40. No ash tray or defrost vent in the windshield. Both of those started during the 1962 model year. Thought it may be a FJ25 tub except for the cut out below the speedo for the column shifter. All FJ25s were four speeds with the shifter on the floor, FJ40s had that cut out not FJ25s. Wheels wells have probably been cut. So I put this at a 61/62 FJ40. A Vin would help. Who lives close to this?

Looking at the pictures I see where the back panel is larger than the door opening and the rear corner is shorter. Plus twists on the corners instead of footman loops. Does he have the doors. Wonder if he has the brackets for the safety straps? With a V8 I would feel safe without them. I'm guessing 62 or earlier production date so no seat belts.


Curious why all these earlier soft top models are now showing up and flodding the market? Mainly in California.

I am the third owner. *I picked it up from my step son who bought it from the suspected original owner in Pine Mountain Park, CA (Frazier Park area north of Los Angeles in the mountains). *Step son only had it for a few months. *I basically played pawn shop and he never bought it back. *He indicated the older fellow (owner) was accompanied by his son. The older fellow cried when it drove away.
