Unless I’m doing it wrong I’m getting nothing from the plug fir the ICS w/ ignition ON, meg end on metal and positive end in either female end. Kinda stumped. Like I’ve said before, electrical diagnostics confuses the crud out of me. I’ll try to call someone once phone is charged up.

If u mixed up the wires by mistake , and hooked up the B+ to the ground screw on your carb like shown in your photo then u may have blown the fuse associated with the FCS elec circuit green plug ?

that would explain why there is Now No B+ power when u test the green plug with the key ON power

check All your fuses for good measure

hope this helps

also ,

yes i have installed several city racer carbs , but the AISIN OEM ones , not the JDM Spec. one u have

Engine fuse was blown. Once kiddo isn’t napping (he’s in the room closest to the driveway) I’ll try to fire her up. :)
Found the positive side of the connector and it’s now labeled.

@gt7058a I’m not opening that thread, keeping HAC... I’ve looked awhile back and I’m simply seeking one question answered... that thread and the desmog thread are life suckers.
X port is going where?

Check this for the Desmog stuff and this type of carb (works for the city racer carb)
Help a Dummy Desmog Day (Trollhole)

If you are desmogged already. this makes more sense than other threads.

Im really glad the Engine fuse was blown , ( thinking positive ;) ) This fact alone may explain your major symptom in a Nut shell

but getting all the vacuum hoses routed right correctly & or capped off / plugged Too will help guarantee correct end result

i would make sure u use the NEW city racer FCS & Not the old two wire one for sure

Thanks guys! Kid just woke. Will do some light reading w/ my second set of eyes... you know between kid and animals and house stuff. I’m being hounded right now by a small flock of nosy hungry hens.

I can send more pictures when I get home from work but will be around 9pm EDT.

Sounds good. I’ll prob be asleep by then but if your able and have a few minutes I’d be appreciative!
Felicity.

This is how I rerouted the driver VCV.
And turned down the Idle Speed before starting her up... (still can’t bother w/ choke, which seems so strange). Sitting here lightly holding gas. Way low on the tach, like barely 400. Pretty sure if I let go she’ll sputter out so I’ll turn the Idle Speed back up and hopes she’ll hold.
I let go of gas and she’s literally idling at barely 300!!!

I’ve never heard her run so quietly. I’m thoroughly amazed.

  1. I will but got it up enough to try driving across the steeet to a church parking lot and she drove like a queen. And zero dieseling when I shut her down.

Elation. And yes you rule followers, I was driving and videoing. Barely 1 min drive.

Moment of realisation last night.... no choke really needed or necessary because both the choke opener and breaker are eliminated from the desmog carb. The choke cable hooks up like the stock carb and pulls open the plate but other than that it does squat.
I most definitely need to do a lean drop AND recheck timing because as I said it’s idling soooo low now I might need to bring it up. Not sure what I last set the advance at, been awhile.
Curious too on the fan clutch because I’m pretty sure since it was so low yesterday I wasn’t hearing the usual roar from start up.
As well as the carb fan... I need to be mindful if it’s still working as it was.

City Racer carb for the win. I have really enjoyed mine. I haven't gotten 400RPM though. I am sitting at around 850-950 depending on how warm Buster Brown gets. I realize I am poking myself in the eye with this next statement but here goes....I am getting a vented gas cap and removing all the emissions stuff in the near future. OK, bye now. ;)

EDIT: F, I will take copious pictures of my set up when I get home this weekend. I took EVERYTHING out. The VSV for the distributor is the only thing I left in (I think). All other ports were capped. You gotta get rid of most of that pretty blue tubing....

I like the video where it's running. Sounds great.

Hi Felicity,
I just saw your switch to the city racer carb. Seems like everyone loves them and they work well. Congrats.

This probably doesn’t matter since everything is running great now, but I thought I’d post up how I plan to route the drivers vcv. I think I read somewhere, dare I say, it may have been a jim c post to make sure the evap canister purge goes to a ported vac source so it isn’t dumping vapor into your engine at idle when it can’t handle it. You can search for the exact quote.

If your s port is hooked to the gas filter it will be on all the time, which seems like what you don’t want. As I write this I’m remembering the city racer probably only has one ported line doesn’t it? Maybe a “T” Can be used to run it to your vacuum advance and to the vcv? Okay, I’m just babbling now and I’m sure you’ve done your homework, and I really know nothing about the city racer and how others have done their desmog with it.

I’ll shut up now...after uploading my drawing for the evap portion of desmog with OEM carb. Maybe it will help in some small way.

I just drew that out but the only port I have on the city racer is for the Vacuum Advance on the dizzy.
I honestly haven’t done much research. I’m open to corrections if I connected my driver VCV badly. I’d be most curious to see what @Comet or @gt7058a did w/ their lines.
This weekend truck drove pretty good. Only issue I had was trying to idle low while crawling over rocks... it felt like the truck was going to stall so I gave her more gas than I wanted which resulted in a bumpier drive... same as going thru the water.
We all know the city racer didn’t cure any slight leak at the manifold, which I know I have, so could be that was the problem. I loath that I need to pull them off again.
