Just getting ready to go to bed early and foolishly flicked the TV on. The movie El Dorado is on. Darn it! Tough to turn off the Duke!

Day 1 in the books. It was a very long day but a very good day. 22 hrs long. Going to sleep and posting the day one progress in the morning.

Yesterday was a big day for sure. Started a little late at 4:25 a.m, and headed for Indy to pick up my old buddy Pete.
A great shot of his shadow while taking our picture rolling in:D

From there we headed to Louisville to drop off my parts 40 to @wileycoyote. Left it at his buddy Terry's place. He has some cool Cruiser stuff going on too.

Next stop, @bdyer12 's place in Richmond. Bryan was all ready for us. I made a steel cradle for the 12ht that didnt fit so well. Interestingly if fit pretty good spinning around backwards and welding an extra tie down bar to it. We had the hoist pretty well maxed out and it was a little unnerving but once that engine was over the bed it was all good. I still have to rearrange my truck because it is pretty messy now. Made a big mess of coolant too that needs cleaned up when I tipped the engine forward, oops.

Headed west finally and shooting for the West side of St. Louis for a sleep stop.
Grabbed some chow on the way. Pete and I got the pub, Buddy dined on the trailer at the fuel stop.

Made it to St. Louis then stopped in St Charles for some sleep. Not hurrying in the morning but other than some KC barbecue, rolling on through to CO.

Looks like a murder mystery thread. Blood everywhere. Definitely not a halal or kosher moment. Full of testosterone nevertheless.

Great to see buddy along for the ride. Looks refreshed. A long nap I bet. First elevator ride. One step closer to teaching him how to text. You can do it. He has potential.

Caught a little Kansas City barbecue at a place called LC's. Took a shot in the dark and went for it. Cool old place and super cool dudes running it. Chowed down and hit the road. Pretty much going to pull an all nighter and hit Durango mid morning tomorrow. As long as one off us gets some sleep while the other drives.

Eastern Kansas is beautiful. Hitting the west part in the dark but looks perdy flat.

Pat I think I stopped at that same gas station on my way home from SAS .

We are getting close! A little excitement when we stopped for fuel in western Kansas and i couldn't find my wallet. After searching everywhere (almost) I was ready to start cancelling credit cards and work out plan B. Then I discovered where I left it in the change slot in the dash . It was a good opportunity to fell good about how calm I stayed about it all!

I missed the sign for Colorado, that sucker comes up quick.
After passing 5 feet from 20 different mule deer on a road with no shoulder doing 65mph (some real nice bucks too!), I really felt like a little sleep. At about 3 a.m. we pulled into a dirt lot outside of Walsenburg for a few hours sleep in the seat.

We woke up to a beauty sunrise and rolled on.

In Monte Vista getting an awesome Don Tomas breakfast. Pretty spicy, Pete might not appreciate me in a couple hours!
