Got the speedo calibrated today!! :)
Pretty happy about that. In nice to see how fast I'm going compared to how fast it feels like I'm going.
Looking forward to wheeling this weekend!!!
Glad you didn't have any more issues.

I figure taking the top and doors off adds about 10MPH to the apparent speed of an FJ40.

it's only money, right. :)
That's my thoughts. Just wish I had a little more to do cool stuff like this.

I applied a couple years ago as a nurse assistant in the psychiatric ward at the hospital a friend works at. Basically I would be the guy that has to handle the crazies when they get unruly. Forget the name of it. I was told it payed well with all the ot I could handle.

I've gotta say... I do really love my job! Not the most "manly" profession, for sure, but I get paid well, I can always get a job anywhere and I do genuinely like people and want to help them.
I was scrubbed in an open heart last week, and we cracked the chest... I just kinda thought to myself..."what a cool job! Who ever gets to see and do this?"
Not for everyone I guess, but I feel very fortunate to have a career that I like.

I'm AT the DMV getting Matti registered!!!!
Hard part is over... Had to go through the DMV smog guys first, then went to get her smogged. She passed!
Now I'm waiting (forever) to get her reg'd and plated!!!
The smog supervisor had to come out... He asked how many miles a year I was gonna be driving, then asked if it was obd compliant!!! (wtf!?!?) I politely told him no, per my conversations w/ you guys, it's not required. He kinda hemmed and hawed a bit then told the other guy to write.

Whew!!!

Soooper excited to have old girl legal!!!

Supprised that he let you pass non odb compliant.. Trucks not old enough...

Makes no difference, in Nevada to do the V8 swap legally he has to have all of the smog equipment from the donor car/truck.
Unless it is a non smog vehicle.

That actually applies to all areas in Nevada. They just only check in Washoe and Clark counties.

Not entirely true!!
All it has to do is pass tail pipe test. They look for visible smoke, and a sealing gas cap. That's it. Now if it were an 81 or newer, I would have then had to do the whole obd compliance.
I had been checking w/ them every few mos throughout the build.
However, the supervisor acted as if he wanted the full deal as he kinda bawked a bit.
Doesn't really matter now, cuz the bitch is legal now!!! :):):)

That freaking awesome, get in and drive it every chance you get you deserve it. I have about 800 miles on mine and still grin ear to ear every time. Congrats man

thats the thing at the dmv emissions lab, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, you can ask each person there the same ? and each person will give you a different answer.

I think you got away easy. I have not seen that in any of the rules I have read.

Cool :)

i dont understand if all you needed was a tail pipe test gas cap and check for tail pipe smoke, why did the emissions lab need to inspect it first, little too much red tape if you ask me.

It was because I did the vortec swap. The smog shops wouldn't smog it if i didn't have the "swap form" from the DMV.

Threw together a storage box today...
Found a great spot for my spare rear axles and odd stuff that I wont need all the time.
Id still like to do one in Aluminum down the road, but I dont have the welder set up for that.
Ill probably glue some indoor/ out door carpet on it too.

I tell my kids, If you can't make a living doing something you like, find something you can tolerate. Part of being a man is leaving the cave, going out and killing something, and bring it home to provide for your family. Looks like your doing great to have extra funds for your cruiser addiction...
