I had actually thought about doing that!!!
However, the temp gauges are non op for some reason, and I dont wanna wheel w/o those working.
The predicted high for tomorrow is 37, could be cold with out a top on your rig.

Maybe Sunday I can stop by and look at the gauges. I have some fence repairs to finish in the AM.

Rusty... You're forgetting that fact that I haven't wheeled in TWO YEARS!!!
still. I've gotta do the fence repair thing too. I'll probably see ya at home dumbo at some point.

Btw... G dog got a stay of execution!!! It just wasn't the right time. He's still... Gunner despite his issues. not that he's better, but we have some extra time w him.

I have a 2' section of form tube left over from setting a post today if you need it.

Hey! You have a pick up!!!! :hhmm:

Good news on the puppy front.

So I gave mudrak a call today per Georg's recommendation to discuss this a bit and get his take. He seems to think that assuming everything is set up right, it might need a bit more leverage on the handle, or just technique in the shifting. He recommended trying to find high with the rig moving slowly in either forward or reverse. He admits that he had never done on of these w/ an auto, but he said that even with a manual, they can be hard to get into one gear or the other.

You know.. My 60 pops out of low when I let off the throttle occasionally. Sadly,i am not sure is that is the split case low or the 203. I'll look into it tomorrow when I am looking for elk..

Good to know I'm not the only one! :)
From that I've read and what Gary had said, if that spring is worn, that can cause these types of issues.
I've read guys had put washers under them, stretched then or just replaced them altogether with tighter springs.
I plan to just go ahead and replace mine just to see cuz (theoretically) it easy and cheap! :) two things I like!!!

I have always shifted my np203 in park. sometimes I have to go from park so it will shift. neutral then then back to park to take the stress out of the drive line so it will shift.

hope this helps.

Me too!!!
I'm gonna screw with it a bit this weekend and see if there is a way I can get it to shift while driving it. Damn... I need seat time!!! How unfortunate for me!!

Thanks for posting warpdriv!
Btw... You tube fender blinkers inspired mine! Thanks!!!

I think I understand where my thoughts go wrong but just to make it clear which one has problems shifting the red or the yellow arrow?

Michael...
The one with the red arrow to it. That is an NP203 gear box. The one behind it is a landcruiser 19 spline split case found in fj60-fj80.
The 203 is a "cheap" way to get lower gearing in landcruisers and for w while one of the only options for a doubler ser up in fj60's and fj80's.These were used in 1960-70's in American 4wd trucks. Theyre very beefy, but somewhat finicky for shifting as I'm finding out.

Thanks for the explaining Keith.
This means that you can put the TC in neutral to release the tension from the drivetrain to make shifting the 203 easyer.
At least in theory this will make shifting easyer because there is not much resistance until the point where it runs free.
Am I right?

So took matti in the hills behind the house for a bit....
So I was able to get into high gear. There is a sequence in which it needs to happen.
The trick is, that it has to be rolling a bit either in forward or reverse. So I screwed around with that and 4wd and the double low.... Holy s*** is that ever AWESOME!!!! I stuck everything in low gear and idled down a few pretty steep grades idled up the grades, crawled over a few rocks. Just had a Blast cruising around getting a feel for it! I am so pleased with how stable it feels on the little bit I did today!!!

Got some poser shots! Wanted to flex it pretty good and see how the front shaft was gonna do cuz it's so close. It never hit, so that was good!!
