Very curious to learn about the problem however. I also second Shinichi's comment about how the exhaust system was welded and if the ECU/computer was isolated during the welding process.
BTW, huge thanks to my BBCN brothers for the support and help afterwards!!!

If the ECU had not been isolated, would that ultimately fry the comp? I disconnected the power to the ECU, but did not d/c the battery.

I'm just thinking that 1 - it fired up and 2 - whatever killed the spark didn't leave a code.
With those facts to work with my best guess would be a broken connection/wire/fuse/switch.
Wish I was near . . .
