I have always used Stihl saws, two O64's(80-some cc's) and an ancient little one. They are easy to maintain, powerfull and tough as hell. They really ARE the best chainsaws on earth, they are used in all of those ESPN logger events, that should tell you something. I have also used a lot of Husky stuff and have been very impressed, I wouldn't have any reservations about buying a Husky.

I've been lookin' all over the place for one of those. I couldn't remember the name. I just ordered one with a sheath to carry in the Cruiser. Holmaas comes through again! thanks!

Glad to see you went with the Stihl. I am a professional timber cutter and use either the 046 or 066 magnum depending on the timber. I carry a little 029 farm boss. Great cheap little saw for firewood or whatever. Husqvarna is the only other brand I'd consider. It is a Ford/Chevy thing with most cutters.

I got a Stihl 090 saw free 'cause it threw a rod. Replaced the crank and rod and all is well. Paul Bunyan will be working hard to keep up with it. You get a REAL workout using it as well :D if you can lift it! Compact?? NOT Powerful?? it'll bring down anything that grows!

My $.02 , Stihl/Husky/jonserad are all good saws. My wife is a forestry patholagist and they use only husky. I on the otherhand have never had a problem with my Stihls. Have a 026 w/14" bar that I use for small/fine stuff( just built a log cabin with it), a 360 pro w/20" bar for every day cutting( B-day gift from the wife!), And a 066 (7.5 hp)w/36" bar for those times when you really want to see the chips fly. Never had a single problem with and of my saws. The 026 is still on it original spark plug. Both Husky and Stihl have pro and home grade saws so make sure you compare apples to apples

I have a POS Mcculloch. It sucks (lots of fuel), lots of power (if it starts), way to (heavy unless your Arnold), 20" bar (never needed that much bar), Chain doesn't have an auto oiler.

Don't buy a Mcculloch!

I dunno, pointed my wife to a tree and told her to go chew it. Hey, I had called her things similiar to a beaver right? Hmm. didn't work. :whoops: :flipoff2:

Oh yeah, going out this weekend to get me a new Stihl since the local guy is ditching that line. :D

:bounce: Sounds like STIHL is the preferred brand.:bounce:

X2.8873 :grinpimp:

i have a STIHL 038 Mag,72.2 cc, saw that has been awesome for fire wood and larger trees, but for lighter use try the STIHL MS 361 not to heavy either @ 12.3 #'s.

Dan, isn't your rig a green one? scratches can only improve the look, some (not me) would say... :D

Stihl

Dan,

I've got an ole 009 Stihl, great saw. Put a little Seafoam in the gas to keep everything nice and clean on the inside.

just found out (thanks to MUD) tonight that the fuel line is cracked on my 10 years old Stihl.
First problem ever. Looking forward to a few more years.

Dan,

For the type of use you're looking at, go to Home Depot/Lowe's. Buying a high quality chainsaw for trail work seems like a waste of money to me, IMHO.
