Continued on the intake pipe and added a bung (yes greg i said bung!:hillbilly:) for the boost gauge. Even set up a little paint booth (to paint more than one object) above my wood stove.

Final for the weekend. Finished up air cleaner to turbo intake pipe where I just cut the stock hose down to make things easier. Then cleaned up the oil pan drain pipe and added some JB weld. And installed the pyro and boost gauges (still need to do the electrical) just above the 4wheel shift lever. This weekend I noted that the manifold is slightly warped from the welding, so I think I will take it to a machinist to mill it down a bit, then I can swap out hoses and belts, top up the oil, bolt up the kit and start er up to see how the turbo runs!

Nice progress. Another weekend and you'll have it back on the road.
Bit the bullet and got started on mine. Never would have guessed it would take me so long to pull the manifold. Didn't measure, but you sure it's 9x1.25 and not 10x1.25 for the studs? Just seems like an oddball size.

Sorry for the confusion Martin, It's the studs that bolt into my Turbo that are the odd ball. I couldn't even get the 9mm bolts, so I had to buy 3/8 ready rod, which I will rethread to the 9mm on the one side.
Cheers,
Deny

For all my JDM lovin Canadian market truck hatin friends! :hillbilly: Now this baby is just as nice with turbo, lockers front and rear, cushy mall type wagon, and with a little extra rust to make it more lovable. ;) Also got my manifold machined and damn Martin should spent a bit more time measureing since I got into the shop last night, re-cut the threads on my 3/8 ready rod and found the thing was too thin! Guess it really was 10X1.25 so I grabbed a few old bolts that Steve gave me while I was down south and they worked out. Good thing I ordered the cheap 7 dollar die instead of the $60 one cause I woulda been pretty choked. Oh and just for good measure I will be running this thing with a 2 foot strait pipe so I can hear the turbo whine like a canary! :hillbilly:

Where'd you get the machining done?

Extera, but the actual place is RMI? Chris had a machinist buddy, who said he didn't have a gig to hold my contraption and it would cost me a bit to set one up, so he told me to go here. It's located in behind Rona.

 Nice logo.
So besides bolting it together what's left?
How thick is the exhaust flange? Decided I'll be making a manifold after all. I've got some 5/16 plate lying around that I was going to use but now I'm thinking maybe its a bit thin.

I pulled the belts last night, so I just have to change the hoses, top off fluids and bolt it all together. one banana job now, should be able to pull it out of the shop for a burn on Sunday. I do have plans for finishing the bumper, sliders, anti wrap bar, a bit more lifting with adda leafs and longer shackles in the front, as well as add a few tractor lights here and there and possibly snorkle build. All on the list for when I get back from Costa Rica though!:hillbilly:

Not quite sure how thick it is, as it was real thick, and some was taken off by the machining. I would say there is still 3/8 of an inch? I can measure for you though.
Cheers,
Deny

So although I had a late start today due to an out door hockey game turning into more drinking, which ended up me sleeping in my truck a few hours to sleep it off :hillbilly: I got it pretty much done. Just have to swing by the company shop to pick up my 0W 40 oil so I can refill and start it up. Gauges are all wired up too.

I love that beautiful sweeping bend between the air cleaner and turbo :hillbilly:

Ha ha, thanks Phil, I didn't think anyone would notice my laziness:hillbilly: I was going to put a nice bend in there as I have a mandral bent pipe, but then I cut the two peices and put them there and figured two 45s and I am golden as it shouldn't affect anything and work just as good. I wasn't going for looks as you can see!:hillbilly:

So I topped er up with oil, cleaned up the shop and started it up. Ran like crap and died. So re-prime and it started up good and ran nice. So out the shop. puller out of 4wheel and go for a spin. a few minutes in and snap and I am stuck in the middle of an intersection. still running but no go, so I slap it into 4low and crawl out of the roadway. thought it was my u-joints as they were loose and on the list to get changed, but no everything looks ok, but back in 2 wheel she's grinding but not moving, thought I might have broken a pinion or my rear locker? Get back to the shop and find the splines on the companion flange ground right off. Looks like the splines on the pinion still pretty meaty, so will probably just get a new companion flange. Oh well better here a few blocks from my house than in the middle of no where!:hillbilly: Turbo ran nice, good whistle coming from it too, but not too impressed with the power, seemed almost like it wasn't there (could have been the rear end slipping alread?) But was only getting 10psi, so will have to crank up the fuel (as the shop that cleaned up the injection pump turned the fuel back down to stock). Good fun!:hillbilly:

Good job on getting it out of the shop. Weird but lucky it only f'd up the companion flange.
So 10psi and not impressed, how much are you going for? I think mine is wastegated at 8-10psi only. Maybe I should be looking to increase that?

Not too sure, but 12 would be an improvement I think as my 42 usually gets 12 no problem then when into it climbs to 15 pretty fast and then up to 18-20 if I keep on er. The 60 was on 9-10 when I gaver s***, so it definatly needs more power.

Awesome!!!

im wayy to lazy to read it all. is that the turbo i gave you with the truck?

No I decided to go with the same turbo thats on my Bj42 for simplicity. I might use that turbo on the next 3B I turbo. I hear you about lazy, I hate reading long posts too.

Oh yeah PM me your address so I can send you your part that was blocking the oil pan drain back.

dont worry bout shipping that, its just some imperial clutch alignment tool. put it in your center consol and ill get it later:p s***t deal about the flange. better than stripping a 4.88 pinion though;)

10-4

yeah and better 2 blocks from my house than middle of nowhere.:hillbilly:

So I got some work done this weekend finally, since I been holidaying and then had a hockey tournament last weekend. Still lots of snow, but I want to get it ready for possibly a little bit of snow running, just to test out the chains to see if they will fit once I jack up the suspension a bit. Added two more leafs in the back and welded a 1/2 in block on the perches to raise me up by 1in. Hoping to add a few leafs and slightly longer shackles in the front to bring me up an inch and a half.
