So for those interested, I got down south to work on my truck all sorts of fueling issues. had the injection pump checked, injectors good....pretty much checked everything then when I got tired of working on it in -18 I hauled it down south, put a new primer pump in (then pre-priming it I blew air into the fuel line to build up pressure in the tank and get fuel filling up all the air in the system) Ran good for a day, then went with Martin to Clear creek, and almost to silver creek, more fuel issues. had to get towed by martin back to harrison hotsprings, with a few primes to drive up the icy hills. That primer pump was shot so I thought it was just a crappy primer pump. Well changed the primer pump again, and no go, still died after a short drive. So then got to brainstorming and finally traced it back to the tank, ended up pulling quite a bit of paper out of the tank. I think I have it fixed now. Worst part is, I might have been the one responsible for the paper in the tank when I was fixing the pin hole in the tank early in the spring, as I may have forgotten it in the fill hose when I put the tank back in. Damn live and learn I guess.

Paper :censor:. Sucks you towed it all that way down here only to have more problems, but it's good you got it sorted out now. Interesting that you mentioned the paper made it all the way up to the system to the lift pump.
 
As in paper towel. yes sucks very much, but real glad I am dealing with draining the tank down here where it is above zero as opposed to up there where it is -18 and a full shop to boot.

the hoist is probably nice too,

can't remeber, is there a bung at the center of the tank, or do you hce to drop it again.
 
bung in middle, no tank dropping thank goodness

And you have to remove the bung to debung it...

thats a real bunger...
 
It was a real bunger, diesel all over my dads shop (and not to mention all my clothes), I don't think he is too pumped about it.
 
did you do his winshield frame swap yet?

Papar in you water seperator too?

probably paper in water seperator, but I drained it and reved it up to get some of it out.:meh:
 
So I still got some s*** in my system. On my drive to the sunshine coast to visit a friend, it got plugged up going up a hill to horshoe bay, but I powered through and it worked ok after. got over the ferry then on the hill up out of the ferry terminal it was coughing and hacking and not enough fuel flowing. lucky buddy lived just out of Gibsons, so it was a pretty short trip, but side of the highway in first gear, dying the odd time kind of trip. finally made it up to his place and it died. had to use starter to put into place. after night of drinking had to head off the next day, so I rigged up the extra long hose I bought, drilled a hole in the gerry can lid, primed it up and drove home via fuel line by my feet to the gerry can in the back seat. worked like a charm. Think I will grab an extra tank here at home as I think it will take me a few more clog ups to get all the paper out, plus I already fixed a pin hole in this tank with JB weld, so a new one should fix my problems.

Sounds painful and frustrating, I'm sure this is just the thing you want to be doing whilst visiting the coast. I'm digging the jerry can solution :hillbilly:
 
I'll post some pics when I get home, worked like a charm, but it is a lot easier dealing with this out here then driving around in -18 and having the same problems. I gave up being pissed about it since it was self inflicted:hillbilly:

Nice work, with some duct tape and bungee cords you could keep that tank in it a while :hillbilly:. Nice trailer.
