That got it. I was missing the final setting. I now have full steering wheel controls.

Overall, really happy with the system. Using map apps is great. Love the interface for music. Texting is now viable through the car. Voice commands with Siri are much more reliable.

My only downside so far is that phone calls are very "tinny". Even with the master volume down low. Calls seem really blown out. If I make a call with another cell through bluetooth is sounds the same as it used to. I've emailed Naviplus to see if they have any ideas.

Well worth the expense.

When I make calls with CarPlay, they do not sound "tinny" but sound like they have more bass. The phone calls sound different when made with CarPlay because the audio is using the sound settings for the Aux input. The sound setup for calls made with the car, sound like they are using mostly the front speakers and not as much bass for me.

I received my NaviPlus unit on Friday. I only had the chance to open it today. I ordered the unit with steering wheel controls and wireless CarPlay. I would check the order email, but it doesn't appear to be broken out with any items. I thought I had read that with wireless car play, there was a separate dongle. Would there also be an additional harness for steering wheel control? I've not even had a chance to read through the manual. I was hoping someone could confirm these for me before I proceed, maybe with some photos. Thank you!

EDIT: I've contacted NaviPlus. They said that I have everything I need for wireless CarPlay as well as wired Android Auto/CarPlay. They say there's no need to adjust the DIP switches. Now I just need to find time to install it!

So I'm planning on tackling this project this weekend. I'm curious as to what factory USB dongle I'll need for a 2018 LC. Is it:

PAC USB-TY1
PAC USB-TY2

I'm also curious where I can find the place to plug this into the factory USB mount. In the FSM, it looks like the USB/AUX is just a rectangular cube that a harness plugs into. My assumption is that one of the PACs above will replace that harness and plug directly into the "cube". But the question is, which one.

Then the question is, if I want to keep factory USB and factory AUX, where should it go? And from what I've read, the NP unit uses factory AUX, so can I actually keep factory AUX? Lots of questions.

I ended up going to a local car audio shop. I picked up the PAC USB-TY2 adapter. This thing is getting installed this weekend! I'll have to figure out how to get the stock USB connection routed somewhere later. I'll also need another adapter for that. But that's for another day.

So I finished my install today. Before buttoning it up, I tested audio and I heard music, hooray! I tried calling my wife and there's was no Bluetooth option in Android Auto. But I figured that was some setting I needed to find.

I started buttoning it up and then read the rest of the install PDF. I got into the menu system with the IR sensor and remote and turned off AV1-3 and turned RTC to off. I'm wondering if I turned off HDMI was well. Now I'm not getting any audio, and I don't see the AUX input as an available option in the default Toyota audio menu. I still see the Android Auto I terrace though. Has anyone encountered this?

As a side note, I started my truck without my phone plugged in and I got a menu asking me if I wanted CarPlay or AA or Settings. I hit settings and there was a Bluetooth option. I was able to pair my phone with the (I'm assuming) NetPlay unit. After that, plugging my phone into the unit and I called my wife and saw the Bluetooth option. But she couldn't hear me tapping the mic I installed and as I said, I couldn't hear her. I also unpaired my phone from the stock LC head unit.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also removed the stock USB/AUX module that pops into the center console. I am now wondering if that's why I'm not seeing the AUX input as an option in the Toyota headunit's Audio Source menu. On the back of the USB/AUX module, I can see something that looks like Toyota's version of USB, but also 7 pins that surround the top half of USB looking pins. An AUX input only needs 3 pins (Right, Left and Ground), so what's the other 4 pins for? It must be some sort of detection circuit that tells the headunit "Hey, there's a factory AUX available." I'm gonna head out to the garage and put the module back and see if that fixes my issue.

OK, I just put the USB/AUX module back in the truck and hooked it back up to it's stock harness. That fixed the "AUX input not being presented in the stock headunit's Audio Source menu" issue. Now music works in Android Auto. However, phone calls now aren't working through the new mic. I've got the phone paired through the NetPlay unit, but during a phone call, Android Auto says "Bluetooth is not connected". At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I've emailed NaviPlus.

My original intention was to plug the NaviPlus supplied female USB type A into the PAC adapter's USB Type A male and then the Toyota USB side of that PAC adapter into the USB/AUX module. For now, I have that female USB Type A plug hanging out by the passenger's feet until I can figure out the proper install method. I also don't think this will fast charge my phone. During a 10 minute trip yesterday, the phone didn't lose charge, but it didn't gain any either.

I would try deleting your current BT connection and re-pairing. Make sure your head unit source is “Aux”.

FWIW, I mounted mine on the A-Pillar...seems to work fine. But I agree, not sure why it would matter.

@FLGT from what I could see, the PAC USB-TY2 is only a USB converter that plugs into the cable coming from the stock headunit, and only the USB portion of that cable. It does not plug into the stock USB/AUX module. The stock USB insert (the module that plus into the center console) has several pins. I can't believe I didn't take a picture of it, but there seems to be more pins than needed for USB and stereo AUX. I'm guessing those extra pins are connected to some sort of resistor or something in the module that tells the stock head unit that the module exists/is working. I tried unplugging the module so that I could pull the NP-included female USB up through the hole. When it was out, I confirmed that the PAC USB-TY2 wouldn't plug into it. With the module out, the AUX input disappeared from the AUDIO options list on the headunit. I'm not sure if this is something that's on 2016+ MY vehicles, or maybe 2018+? I do not have the rear entertainment system. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

There may be some confusion about how the PAC-USB-TY2 cable was utilized, at least in my application. Firstly, as joltman described - it is USB only. Secondly, I could not connect it to the black USB/AUX port (socket) on the center console - because it has a different connector.

Below is a diagram of how I used the PAC-USB-TY2 cable for my particular set-up.

Hence, I did not unplug the existing black connector (on one end of the existing proprietary cable pair) from the USB/AUX port, I simply left that end untouched. I found that the other end of this existing proprietary cable pair ran toward the center cup holder area - one terminating to a brown connector and the other to a white connector. These connectors are situated directly underneath the center console cup holders (first picture in my original post) protected by a light gray plastic cover. I removed the gray plastic cover and disconnected only the brown connector from my LC and connected this directly to the PAC-USB-TY2 cable. Then I connected the other end of the PAC-USB-TY2 cable (which is a male USB plug) to the female end of the Naviplus USB cable.

The result was I sacrificed the USB connection to Entune for a direct wired connection to Carplay using the original USB socket.

Well. All is installed but one BIG prob - car play screen pops up whrn iphone plugged in. Mic works. Problem is no carplay audio. Radio still plays. If make carplay calls - call goes thru. Mic works. Also no audio. Appears navi not bypassing car audio

Make sure you fully disconnect Bluetooth between your phone and your LC. Then make sure audio source is set to AUX.

I'm not in my truck right now, but I believe you hit the "audio" button on you center console, select "source" then hit the scroll to the right arrow and select "AUX" as the audio input.

Would you be able to verify that you have disconnected Bluetooth from the stock head unit and are connected to the NP Bluetooth (Car Audio) and try and make a phone call? Where is your mic located? I think I've got a bad mic cable or some programming is incorrect as far as gains on phone mic. Thanks!
