Old problem - have a friend that needs cargo window seals. Luckily I had squirreled away a set for my resto project that I bought from Cabe when they were available.

Anyone know if they are available - or the best way to make some?

Thanks

Slo doesn't show them as available. Anybody know where Cabe go them from - maybe we can revive that source?

Last time I looked into it no one made them anymore and SLO was still trying to get good enough ones from his new manufacturer to sell (1-2 years ago is when I contacted him). I think Cabe had bought the rest of the supply from someone that stopped making them and then Cabe sold out. I bought a new set from a guy that got them from whoever Cabe bought the supply from and he said they were supposed to be better quality than the SLO ones. I can't remember the name of who was making them, it's buried in the forum her somewhere.

People have talked about using two windshield rubbers per side. Supposedly a good glass guy can cut and glue them together and make it look and work good.

Did this seal kit work out for you?

I haven’t picked up a kit yet. Still thinking about the late 70’s GM pickup back window seal route. Unless someone picks up and starts running with actual seals again.

A guy in the Facebook 55 group said that he used the FJ55 windshield gaskets and it worked good.

Nice 👍 Hadn’t heard about that one yet!

Supposedly you need two per side to make it work right. At $60 each it's still a little cheaper than the new ones that used to be available.

Does anyone have any ideas for other vehicles that might have something similar to the rear side door fixed window rubber gaskets? I never bought them from SLO because they were $450 and now they are out. I might have to do a couple wrecking yard visits and look for something similar.

i got a new pair last year, not s

ure where they came from, but they are not one continuous rubber, the corners have been spliced in

I’m not up to speed on how they build the rubber but I thought all the corners were spliced in?

First time I ever thought about it, I guess I thought they were poured in a mold, but must be extruded

Someone is laughing at us and will chime in with how it really goes down...;)
