Needed to come up with something quick the day before a recent trip. A trip to the local Home Depot and came up with the heavy duty gray wire shelf $7. Worked great

Riley,
if the price is right I would be interested as well, Now that I have a job again (woohoo!!! being unemployed sucks) I could swing it if it was reasonable.
oh and forewarned the shipping adress will change from what we had but I will still have an industrial adress.

I tried to get mine from MAF - they didn't have in stock and so I also bought mine from Midwest (no affiliation, etc.). They are listed as the 'official distributor' but my take is that it's a small one man operation. I was generally satisfied, but it took a bit of time and some prodding to get it shipped etc (over the holiday season).

I think they run about US$400 and closer to C$800 landed for me...I would have paid double that for the peace of mind

Cheers, Hugh

I just got the Milford from MidwestLandcruiser a couple of weeks ago for $449. Hugh is actually the one who convinced me to buy it through his past posts. I ordered it the day I was packing up to go camping because I was worried about all the projectiles I was loading in the back. I think it was a small price to pay for the security of my family. I can only hope it is never needed.

Now, if I can just get it installed before this weekend - we are planning on going camping again.

for sale thread

For those of you that are interested, I started a new thread over in the for sale section (I don't need Junk on my case):

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?p=180983#post180983

I got a group price worked out with him and I might help just being a middle man for the funds to keep it easy for him (he doesn't deal with paypal...yet).

I posted his price over in the for sale section.

Tom:

Nice work - glad to be of help ;-) Take the time on the install, it was more involved than I expected. Do a search as someone had a great write-up on their web site on the install - I thin the best advice was to put it in and mark the spots with it in place vs. all the measuring. I didn't do this and had to redrill a few floor holes to allow better access to my tie down points.

I just took mine out as we are having some work done on the truck - still in great shape after 2 years of heavy use.

Cheers, Hugh

Installed it last night and it took about 3.5 hours. I wish I had seen your message first as I have a little interferance with the tie down point. The other problem I had was the anchor points on the top. The headliner doesn't match the roof line exactly so when I tried to tighten up the bolts it deformed the headliner a lot. I ended up putting the plastic cover under the headliner and then bolting the little extension piece on the outside. Worked great that way.

Tom

Yep I know what you mean. I looked at the holes I did in the headliner when I took mine out - not too impressed with my work  , but it is covered by the plate. I'm just happy that I can remove mine with my drawer system in place - I didn't think I could, but managed to take it out in about 5min without problem.

Cheers, Hugh

I've noticed from some of the pictures that you've mounted some points on the walls for bungy cord tie downs.

What product did you use for this application?

Also I've taken all of my floor tie downs out because they stucking out too high for daily use, has any one replaced theirs with lower profile mounting brackets?

:bounce: <- money trying to jump out of my pocket.

Lurker:

John will have to get back to you on the bungie mounts. Not sure about the floor tie downs, on my 1997 it is an open steel clip that folds flat under the carpet when not in use - is yours different?

Cheers, Hugh

Hi Hugh,

If your's (1997) is a fold down tie, then that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Mine (1993) are a simple Steel 180 degree loop that's always pertruding, I guess with a 25lb sledge hammer it could be a one time fold down tie also.

try moving the slit in the parpet and it should fold down below the carpet for a flush surface, mine are a littly stiff little bit a spilled coke in the back rows might make it more so

My (93) has the loop, it will fold down with some persuasion, and can be laid (relatively) flat under the slit in the carpet. Your's should be the same, thay are tough to move the first few times.

OK my PO must have changed them out even thou it looks so stock. The tie downs look like this

--- ---
| | <- bolts

|------------|
____| |_____ <- tie down

There's nothing to fold down unless 25,000 lbs is applied.

I see a trip to the Toyota dealership.

BTW I'm still looking for a vertical tie down idea for, say a ice chest to the side interior wall behind the seats. I assume finding the hard point to mount this is also going to be an issue with out tearing up the inside molding.

Lurker, do the hooks come through a "L" shaped slit in the carpet? If not maybe the PO added what you see, but check for the "L" shaped slits in the carpet, and you might find the OE hooks under there

Ouch let's try that again.

Yes you are correct, they are/where under the slits in the carpet.

I thought that this was a stupid Toyota idea, now I see it was a stupid PO idea.

hmm that picture looks more like the 3rd row lugs, the dark things on the left side of this pic, the cargo hooks are on the right

I see!

I'm missing the cargo hooks from your picture.

Thanks!
