Edit: and the tube from the port at the base of the carb, does that go to your vacuum gauge?
Nevermind, it goes to the dizzy diaphragm but it's kinked off so that's fine, it's a vacuum retard dizzy.
Your carb looks a lot like my 10/'73 carb, it's a good carb. Is that an electric fuel pump?
You got it running, now just tune it

Yes electric fuel pump. Pushing about 7-10 psi I believe. I just don’t know how to tune it. The air fuel screw doesn’t change anything about it running

To help you understand why that idle solenoid causes that problem when its unhooked-- its like a petcock on a motorcycle when you turn the gas off-except its automatic when you turn the key off it turns off the gas. the wire was unhooked so the gas was off but a little was probably trickling through so it would start but ran lean.
Hope this helps? I'm not an expert but I work on a lot of Land Cruisers and I've made the same mistakes.

Your electric fuel pump pressure is too high and that can cause problems - blowing past the needle valve. 5psi is more than enough. There are regulators, or just get a diode electric pump for $10. They last like 10 years.

I have a regulator in the garage I need to install. It doesn’t seem like any is blowing by. The level in the sight glass stays the same.

If the idle mixture screws dont do anything, then the idle circuit is being bypassed. Make sure the throttle plates in the base of the carb are closing completely. Make sure the idle screw is backed off so the throttle plates are closing. It could be a vacuum leak also. Is fuel leaking from the venturis.

No fuel leaks car doesn’t idle with the screw backed off

@andrewbridges1 Pinheads videos man. Search for and find them, they are the best. Very thorough, step by step.
