Hey there. Reading up on adjusting my carburetor, the Carb 101 basics section here discusses using a vacuum gauge to determine the lean drop-off point.

My question: where do you hook this vacuum gauge up? Pictures would be most helpful, but I'll take anything. Thanks!

Connect it to the brake booster Union pipe at back of manifold. The little pipe.

I am pipe-less. I'll snap a pick when I get home. But that goes straight into the brake booster? So I can disconnect whatever tube is there and plug in my vacuum gauge?

do you have the 3 port gas filter fore of the carb on the intake runner? that spot will work as well or you can get a reducer tee to put inline to your booster

The arrow in Output Shaft's image is pointing to the hose barb for AC idle up. Unplug that smaller hose and hook the vacuum gauge there. Keep the AC off during this procedure.

Y'all are great. I confess that I posted here because the engine and carb are from a 60-series, but the body is a mid-70's FJ55 (oink!). The whole darn system is de-smogged and the AC is currently sitting on my shelf. I'm an owner of both an FJ62 as well as the pig project(s) - I posted here first hoping to get input from Output Shaft and the rest of you.

All of this vacuum is being driven off the intake manifold, correct? So provided I find a way to tap into that it should be "relevant"? Any drawback to unplugging the line that runs to the brake booster?
