That is VERY strange. Rebuild kits for '72s are readily available from multiple sources, and 72s are generally good cores to work with. Even better when they've been ported for vacuum advance.😉

Even if you're not interested in having me rebuild your carb, you should consider having the port added. Do some thread research on it if you haven't heard about this before. Some info also available on my FAQ: www.marksoffroad.net
65swb45 is the phone number you have posted still a good number to contact you and when will be a good time to call?

The number is current.

There is less than a one percent chance of catching me in real time. Just leave me a voicemail with the best time to call YOU back, and I will do what I can.😊

I’ve already got a fairly heavy load for tomorrow (for a guy who’s supposed to be retired!) and I’m just getting back up to speed after being ill this weekend.

Sounds good. I will leave a message. Thanks for your help.

By the way, If you didn't get one already, here is a proper greeting... Welcome to Mud.

What is the history of the carb that needs rebuilding, and the engine. Any pics? Any engine baselines, or just getting it started? Pics help us ask all the right questions.

Thank you for the greeting. I'm just getting started. I know vehicle is a 1972. It has a f155 sticker on the velvet cover and most information says it is a late 1FE. I haven't pulled the carb yet, so I'm not sure of the manufacturer and I haven't located any stamps on the engine yet. I tried to track the VIN, however it isn't a full length number so I haven't had any luck that route. I believe I may have 65swb45 rebuild it. I need to call him today.

Returned your voicemail. You have your homework.😉

It looks like that will be my route at the moment. Thanks for the recommendation.

We don't rebuild carbs @ Cruiser Outfitters, parts only. Mark is a great resource for a rebuild. I've got his carb on a personal Cruiser.

Looks stock. Also looks like it has been modified at some point.

Would you be able to rebuild it?
Not seeing anything alarming that would make me say definitely not.

Take a close look at the area that is capped right next to where the fuel goes in. Sometimes that little tower is flared out at the top from a fuel return fitting that your carburetor does not have. Why? Because I have a suspicious feeling that it used to have one.

Ok. I'll check it as soon as I get back.

I'd insist on getting a JIS-pointed screwdriver, if you don't already have one. JIS, or Japanese Industrial Standard. Vessel, or Toyota-brand are JIS. Most everything else is Phillips, which are not the fasteners on the carb. A Phillips makes the head of every carb screw kinda sharp and galled-up, or completely strips the head of the screw.

You'll need it for the carb rebuild. Or, you'll want it for reinstalling the choke cable or whatever.
