Of course, things get a little more complicated if that is even possible. Removed all the “studs” in POSs #2 thru #5. Noticed that they all had a circular pc of “paper” under the portion that sits against the inside surface of the fender. This item is not shown in the NA Lexus parts diagram as well as the flanged nut.

Wondering if it could be 53855? From Amayama.

Lexus parts diagram. Freaking useless. So frustrating for something that should be easy peasy.

Going through my stash of parts looking for antenna bits, and I come across this bag. Noticed the nuts look like those used on the studs.
Yep, on the Amayama Toyota parts diagram they show the nut as 90179-06144 but again not on the Lexus parts diagram.

Seems I had forgotten that I will also have to make the holes/slots for POSs #8,#9, and #10. Moar work. 😕

Antenna mounting hole transferred. Fingers crossed.

Additional Flare mounting transferred to fender.

Got the holes/slots drilled for the flare mounting.

The POS #1 hole is re-using the original clip and screw.

The POS #4 hole in the fender does not line up with that in the flare. Not sure what I’ll do. I will likely leave as is as I don’t want two holes in the fender.

The POS #7 is using the clip for POSs #6, #8, and #9 for now as if I use the clips that are supposed to go there, I probably will end up breaking the male half.

The POS #8 slot I drilled in the fender has no plastic piece in the flare. It. It broke off and was lost. I may make up a piece and JB Weld it place.

The POS #9 slot I drilled is slightly too big for the clip to grab.

The POS #10 hole that I drilled is using the original clip and screw.

I’m going to see if I can use the same steel studs used in POSs #2, #3, and #5 in POSs #8 and #9.

POS #4 stud does bit align with hole in fender so had to leave it out.

POS #9. Drilled slot is too wide for clip.

POS #8 slot. The corresponding plastic piece in the flare is missing.

Modded the flare at POSs #6, #7, and #9 to accept the stud. I actually have three different types of studs. So, I had plenty.

The DS rear passenger window just dropped. Not sure what happened, but it is off the mechanism. Damn! Something else to fix. A rare outright failure for the old girl.

Found the problem with the window. Rust must have caused it to pop off the bottom of the glass. Bent up a latch piece mostly by hand and welded it on. Surprised you can still buy it. Cleaned out the window rubber and reinstalled everything. Window now works like new.

Due to poor radio reception with the radio, I decided to order some of the Motorola connectors and a 10’ lg ext cable with connectors on each end. Of course, I managed to pull the cable out from the male connector after I decided to insert it into the female connector on the other end of the cable. Good thing I got 8 male connectors in the bag. Took three attempts to fix it. Reception is better but still not like factory. Also added a male connector to antenna assy vs the soldered connector I did previously. Also, while testing the antenna, I managed to have the mast and drive cable pop out. Had to take the antenna assy apart to get the drive cable to grab onto the the drive gear. All in all, it took the better part of a day to sort things out. Antenna now works as it should and reception is better than it was previously.

Got the rock guard on the lower part of the fender. Wasn’t really happy with the finish as it was too “rough” looking. Went back to the paint store where I purchased it and they recommended I get this at another store. It’s a much smoother looking finish and more like the stk finish. With both finishes I had “globs” spitting out from the can. Tried dabbing them up with some tissue/shop towels, but think it made it worse.

Started to tackle done if the rust on the inner fender. Used my hand held media blaster. Works ok on minor surface rust, but the rust lower down is too bad. Of course, found a few pin holes. Won’t bother trying to weld up the pin holes. Will just put some JB Weld on both sides after using some rust converter. Will have to bust out the pot pressure blaster for the heavier rust. Probably not going to line what I find there.

After a short trip last week on the back roads near my place, I noticed a burning type smell. Kinda wrote it off as I could see anything. A couple days later, I noticed a fried v-belt hanging from my steering stabilizer. Was one of the v-belts. Was actually looking at the pulley/tensioner previously thinking it should be replaced but never noticed that there were supposed to dual v-belts. At the time there was only one v-belt. Dealer wanted CAN$185 for the pulley. Getting one shipped up from the USA was CAN$145. Ended up ordering one from Australia for only CAN$85.

Going to be moving around the vehicle addressing the rust as so not to get too bored working on one area. Will deal with this nasty spot on the rear lift gate. Had it completely repainted shortly after I picked it up in 2007. There are several misc spots of rust on the surface. It’s been like this for at least 5 yrs. I’m not a responsible LC owner.

Then there is this spot. Sadly, this has been around even longer. Watched Phil’s vid on how to remove the rubber. Ordered more interior removal tools just now as I only have three such small tools. I have this section cut from a donor though if needed, but hoping not.

Recall buying some type of rubber wheel to get this adhesive off waay back when. Wonder where it is hiding?

Inner fender coming along. Will see if I can get a spraybomb mixed to match the factory primer.
