1977FJ 40 can I remove the window frame without removing the roof?

Assuming you're talking about the windshield frame? I'm pretty sure you're going to have to unbolt it (roof) to lift the front edge but you can let it down once the windshield is leaned forward.

There's no guarantee the hinges will move. They might be rusted. I had to use an impact driver to loosen the hinge screws. I supported the top with 2x4s when I folded my w/s down to install the dash pad.

remove the hinge from the tub atleast, from both is better.
