2001-2007 Sequoia

This is by no means "proof", but the fit checker on Amazon shows the AC Delco 18FR1363 & 1364 as fitting both disc FZJ80s & 01-07 Sequoias.

It is amazing how many of us think the 80 brakes are bad. I know a ton who complain. I think mine are great. I can almost lock them up on the road with a 315 tire. Now, before last year's trip i did replace the rear calipers with new (i think factory rebuilt from Beno) along with new brake lines. The year before i replaced the front calipers with new from beno. I've also done a very thorough bleed of them.

The parking brake on the other hand is junk!

I'm comparing these to my brand new 200 series which have very awkward braking IMHO. They feel almost progressive in that you can hold the brake at the same spot and it feels like they continue to grab tighter and tighter unit they almost lock up! I don't like them as well as my 80 brakes.

Not trying to get off topic but i wonder if you had new lines, fresh pads and fresh fluid if you would have great stopping ability?

My dad's F-150 is kinda like that. You are probably waiting on them to heat up.

Cdan made the point that most 80 parking brake shoes aren't bedded in, since they are only used for parking. Soooo... I will bed these MF'ers in on the interstate! That & a properly adjusted cable ought to do it.

Paging Beno...

An online Toyota parts site is showing different part numbers for LC & Sequoia. That doesn't necessarily mean they aren't interchangeable though.

FWIW, I've noticed the Sequoia's are stamped '14BD', the LCs just '14B'.

If you are having 200 brake issues...

There is a TSB directing the replacement of the master cylinder cap. Amanda's was acting weird intermittently and gave Chris's guys trouble when they installed new pads. They found the TSB notice, I ordered the part (<$10) and all is good.

Do what you guys want. Will they work or not? No idea. Never tried because never had a reason to try. The LC stuff is available. :meh:

That said on the Toyota side (and not this crappy AC Delco s*** that cheap ass @FJ60Cam is peddling in his new rear FF axle business) they are not the same nor even close part number-wise.
:flipoff2:

LOL. His sugar momma cut him off. You gotta do what you gotta do. My money is on them working fine, which means a good road spare at a FLAPS. Sequoias have to be more common than 80s.

The AC Delco reference was just for research purposes. I was going to use Duralast :flipoff2:

Im running Toyota stock calipers with the above mentioned MC , no LSVP, or residual valve... , and 100 series pads at the front axle.
Brakes are AWESOME on 35" AT's, tipping scales at almost 7k fully loaded...

So I crawled around under the truck today and found a few link/panhard bolts that needed to be snugged. I also found that my muffler was contacting a heat shield over bumps and some engine rpms, so I cut the heat shield out. I also went around and snugged up the body mount bolts (still need new bushings)...

WOW! This is the tightest and quietest this truck has felt in a long time. Huge improvement. I'm psyched! It's nowhere near as tight as an 80, that's probably impossible, but pretty dang sweet for a 60. It should get even better with new tires and body bushings.

If the welds hold for the Utah trip and I make it home in one piece, I'll probably get a set of medium springs for DD use. I've been bombing around hitting bumps and cornering at full throttle to see if anything lets go.

The Sequoia rear calipers are in fact almost dead ringers for the 80 rears. The only differences I could find was that they are missing the threaded hole for the little sheet metal shield that covers the opening at the top and that they are labeled '1' & '2' instead of 'L' & 'R'. Probably a bean counter thing in the shield. I even bolted 'em up to check.

The 80 brake pads have more pad area, but I'm not sure if the pads from the Seq. are stock or not. The shape is identical.

Cam, i have gotten into a habit of using a paint pen and putting a mark on the bolts to the suspension links. That way you can see if they are loosening up or not. Especially the jam nuts for the adjustable panhards. They are known to come loose.

Great idea.

On that note - are the bushings supposed to do all the work or are the bolts supposed to be loose enough to allow rotation?
