I copied here too
- Any plans to do a 100 Series anytime soon?
-How weatherproof is the tent itself? Assuming an Arizona summer Monsoon was coming through with a down pour and 50mph winds - would it hold, or would the guidance be to take it down until the storm passed?

The tent has held up to every condition that I have encountered through the 200+ days sleeping in it. The 1st trip was on the kokopelli and was blowing 40+ with gusts, rain too. Great 1st trip to test! It's all about pointing the nose into the wind. I spent countless evenings lounging on the tailgate/inside, out of the wind. If the wind makes a drastic change in direction, just turn the truck, no need to lower the roof or break down camp. The solid roof is key in the wind and rain.
As far as the 100 series... I'm hoping to get that going this spring. I am finishing up this round of 80 tops first though. It has been a cold winter here in Colorado and the spring is always a productive time

The base model that is ready to sleep with the use of your favorite sleeping pad. Partial cut is quick and easy. Also with the partial cut, you can have a second sunroof installed.
The factory headliner can be pulled tight and you are done. It's a 1/2 day of work at most. There are no structural members or wires to cross for the rear of the roof removal

My CampTeq is now paid in full:clap:
Unless I add more options:eek:

Delivery should be around May 1 just in time for the season

Congrats !! :beer::beer:

I'm looking forward to taking a look at this set up.

Phil, congrats!

Did you end up modifing it to enter from the side vs the back of the truck?

Are you going to end up selling the "light way" camp trailer?

Im getting the LCP edition:D...enter from the side or back. I plan to start its own build thread soon and list all the custom features Eric a CampTeq is putting in it.

Lightway is going nowhere, we need the prototype around for the future;)

Hm.....

Have been eyeing moding a vw westfalia to do just this!

Couple of things......

1. the side windows look like velcro fasten on inside. Will this not allow wind driven rain to hit the interior sided closed flap and run down the bottom edge into the interior?

2. How about wind flap noise?

3. Concerned about moving rig when wind changes. is the design robust at all wind angles?

Am real interested........

The fabric that I'm using is quet in the wind. The windows are totally different now. I spent 200+ nights in the raw prototype and have made a few improvements. I have yet to see a Westy top grafted onto any vehicle with success. Not saying its not possible but there is a lot to figure out there. Plus, I wouldn't want to load or stand on a 20+ year old fiberglass ...
I have driven around plenty with the top open. I usually point into the wind. Sometimes weather changes my plans

Last year I ran Black Bear pass with Eric from CampTeq and watched the CampTeq run a obstacle with the top open. I was sold on the quality of the design when it did not move at all while open.

I need that for the hundy! I wonder if he got a donor vehicle for that platform..? Heck, I should give him mine.

Your install day is soon approaching Phil - you must be excited!

I looked through the thread and didnt see it (or missed it?)...what is the weight of the entire CampTeq unit?

Hey Phil,

Is yours going to be painted white, or wrapped, to match your truck?

.

Eric, do you need a donor 100 series vehicle to build one?
