@wngrog - disregard my question over on the “what have you done this week” thread - I just learned everything I need to know about AGR and where my next steering box is coming from!

What is that piece that you have on the cross brace? Is it aluminum ?

ok so maybe a dumb question. for the round steering shaft the borgeson joint doesn’t have a set screw or cross pin. how does one mount it so the shaft is solid? is it meant to be welded on?

thanks. i just welded it on then. not my prettiest welds. i haven’t been practicing for a while but they’re solid

i also tacked a sleeve onto the base of the steering column for a bearing.

Thanks guys. I have had another account for years but signed it over when I sold my off road shop right before I purchased AGR years ago.

I also have a FJ40 rolling chassis resto mod project with power train installed that I am doing an install video on shortly so if its not against any sponsorship rules, and is viewed as a tech contribution, I will post a link up when its done!

JOSH

Wngrog I would suggest boxing in that frame horn between the store bought p/s mount and the frame. Also a gusset on the lower side from bracket to frame.
I had a bad experience last summer when my new AGR box started seizing up and broke the mounts off the frame, in which broke the fittings for the ram assist. Josh and Big John took care of me, all better now.

wngrog, two different things bother me that are shown in your post #41 above:
1. I would not mount the gear box nose low, that puts the pitman arm on an upward angle as it extends rearward, which then puts the TRE on more of a compound angle, more likely to snap when your suspension goes into full droop.
2. Get that wrap off the Header as soon as you can, the Header will literally melt inside that wrap. Racers wrap their Headers, but then unwrap after every run/short trip- - -or buy new Headers very often.

I have had the same setup on the box for years. My suspensions must not drop out as much as your suspensions.

I’ve always heard from the “those headers will rust out” police. This is the first time I’ve heard from the “that header will melt”
Police.

Wngrog, is that your own custom crossmember piece or can you buy them somewhere?
