Just pull up and it is locked, then push and unlocked. The linkage at the diff keeps it locked or unlocked.

if you pull it and sure locke your diff the lever don't go down ?

My cables are custom push/pull cables too - about twice the size of those in the photos. The only difference is that mine come up through my Tuffy Box and are mounted on the front. The auxilary fuel tank precluded using the stock system. Had the same handles, but unlocking the front is difficult, so I put brass heim joints on the ends and use a 1/4" socket extension as a lever - gentle pressure and it'll pop out when things unbind on the front end.

No it stays up. I also wired up the light indicators for both so I know when it is locked or unlocked. They won't engage instantly. I believe there is some kind of spring that allows it to engage or disengage safely and not break anything. They work very smooth.

Nice .. like a pin switch ?

Good to know .. I believe you must need to " feel " the proper position to engage the locker ..

The diff has then same kind of indicator that your transfer has. All I did was hook up the wiring and a light.

I am not sure exactly how it works. My guess is it works alot like an electric locker or ARB. Except it has a cable. Instead of pushing a button, You pull the cable all the way up and then about a half tire rotation or less you feel it lock up and the light comes on. :D It seems to me there must be some kind of spring set up inside the locker that helps it to engage safely and smoothly.

Maybe I missed it, but what lockers did you use for this application? Stock Toyota cable lockers with out hardware or another brand.

What did you have to do your housing to accommodate the cable lockers?

Thanks.

Yes they are Toyota OEM. I got the cable lockers with the complete housing minus the cables, so I made my own cable set up with high quality push pull cables.

It sound logical .. this info it's pretty new to me . but confirm that those Japs Toyota eng .. are very smart ! :D

TRUE!

also learned that some guys have used small pneumatic "rams" to engage the lockers, also used with electric lockers (with small mods to the third member) too bad I couldn´t get any pics.

gonna see if it´s worth it, though the cables seem simpler, it would be nice not having to cut a hole through the floor :grinpimp:

It seems once you make the first cut you start getting all kinds of other ideas. Once you cut you can't stop.
