SOLD CA: FST Door Headers

The early door headers are basically just half of the later two piece style used on hard top models.
Here is a picture I found interesting. It was posted in the AZ club. This is the best picture I've seen showing how hard doors line up with the bows used in the US market. Can see wire is used to just keep doors closed.

For the first time I actually did some comparing the two didn't style door headers. Still not done. One thing is if someone is reproducing a two piece windshield that matches the 9/67 one piece style used by Toyota those would work for the door header. Unless your running matched soft doors and bows you might be better using hard top door headers.

Do you have any FST door headers for sale?

No, like you I have more sets of bows than door headers. I have more factory soft doors than door header. Really just trying to be helpful and a solution. What type of B pillar bows do you and hard or soft doors. There are differences. If you have the straight soft door bows and 65 or newer hard doors you would need to modify the header for soft doors. I would have to modify my hard door headers to work with the soft doors. My thought is just taking apart the later two piece door header will work just as good as the earlier simple door header. Neither are going to seal well.

You cut a curved notch to fit around the bow.

Ok, thanks. If I'm running FST bows, truck will have half doors or no doors. Through research and reading on the forum, I am aware of the differences of straight vs. angled B-pillar bows, and the common solutions to make the straight pillars work with non FST / hardtop hard doors if that is what one wants to do.

Do they have provisions for securing the bead of the FST along the length of the header? I have never had any of these early parts in my hands..... I can build something, no doubt, but I don't have the sheet metals tools required to form the channel for the bead that the top slides into to secure it along the header.

Kicking myself for selling my paki door headers, but they went to a good home/cause.

You got first right of refusal if/when I sell them!

Someone sells just the channel for the windshield, but FYI, one is not long enough for both doors. @Pighead once gave instructions for fabricating this.
Here are pics of FST headers. Very clean.

Real steel doesn't sell headers only, but theirs is very nice. Here it is sitting on top of my start on fabricating what at least started in spring green:

The fit is not as clean as FST OEM underneath, as shown below (modified hard top header still without channel), but it will work:

Great info and pics. Thanks Kitty Keith!

Hadn't considered a windshield channel on edge, mounted to a header/spreader.

As my dad used to say, "Don't mention it."
My first truck is Miss Kitty. You can call me Keith.
Keith it is. Your Pighead reference sent me on a search, didn't find anything posted by him, but this thread linked below has some good documentation.

Will continue trying to find a new or used source, but may ultimately have to build what I need...

Do you have an FJ25 or 1962 FJ40? Because those are a horse of a different color.

Short of reading thru that old five page thread to see if these were mentioned?
Nerd has these bent up as one time deal. Shop was no interested in doing another batch.

Negative, regular FJ40. Horses of a different color can come from the same mother. The photos there along with LITP’s above give me enough of an idea of what I would need to donto fabricate my own. Going to be patient and buy some….
