Looks like a lot of rust that was painted black. If you look at the metal it looks rough in a lot of places and on the welded areas.

The only place I saw significant issues was the skid plate., this would be where rust could attack from both sides...
The welds are going to show some, even down here.

Overall, its not terrible. I could easily clean up and seal what is there.

he's right, one that hasn't been treated does not look like that. IF treated is the right word to use.

Vehicle has been on coast for 14 years and rust issues. Body work done a couple years ago. Looking to sell and give extended life off the coast. Has not been in any flooding. Age and environment. Runs great.

White 03 with 192k miles. Up to date on maintenance, great condition, brand new KO2s. $11.5k

Took about 2 months of serious looking and I walked away from 3 different trucks before this one. I think it was a good price for both parties.

Just bought a high mileage 98 with 325,000 miles. Two owner, last owner for the last 10 years, in the last 10,000 miles got a new TB and WP, CV axles, tires, battery, valve cover gaskets, brake and rotors. It runs great with no leaks and everything is working. Needs a few things but all in all, good shape. I'm going to lift it, 285's, and sliders for now and just enjoy it. I paid $3,400 for it and feel like I got a good deal. It's been in East Tennessee since new so no rust.

Love the color. Thats a great price considering the new stuffs that were replaced in the last 10K miles. Congrats!

sad...I wanted it to be right but it wasn't.

I just sold a 1995 80 LC with 290,000 miles and it's time to upgrade.

I found a 2003 with 156,000 miles. It had navigation, 18" wheels, but had been violently childized. I recognized it immediately because I have 4 little kids.

The drivers seat was not ripped like they said when I asked, but when I got there, I found the worst patch job I'd ever seen. The color and feel were completely different. The backs of the second row seats had holes poked in them. The carpet looked like it had gone thru a flood up front and the back had all kinds of kooliad type stains that they had scrubbed and bleached until they made bad, worse. The antenna had been replaced with what I believe was from a 1984 Tercel. No record of the timing belt/water pump maintenance.

I still wanted to drive it. It lookes pretty good and runs great.

Holy cow...I loved my 80 but this was a hundred times better. So much more power and heated seats. The height control is pretty cool too. It still feels like a truck, but much more fun to drive. Navigation is horrible though.

Maybe I could have looked past all the flaws but we were not able to get the 4x4 indicator lights to come on the dash.

I could hear some kind of actuators when I hit the diff lock button but nothing on the dash. Putting it in neutral and switching to 4lo also didn't show any lights on the dash. We tried everything and even went through the owners manual for the procedures.

Their recommendation was that it's probably nothing. They said to just bring it back and they'd look at it but I had taken the bus there and they were 4 hours away. It was the kind of dealership that offers the tail light warranty.

The price was $14k.

I said no thanks. They said to make an offer...I said $8,000 and kept walking.

Hopefully I find one before my wife finds a suburban.

im buying my wife a new car this weekend after searching for over two months I am down to two choices.

One is an 04 LX out of Beverly Hills. 10 owner page carfax report with all dealer service, new michelins, bought at auction by a local dealer. its in great shape. black with gray interior. 167k miles. he said $14,800 is the best he can do.

Second is an 05 LX from New Mexico and is now here locally. Its a two owner with a decent carfax. Nowhere close to the amount of service records as the first one. it is charcoal with gray interior. it has 139k miles and is in great shape inside and out, a little cleaner than the 04. They are firm at $16,995.

I am leaning towards the first. It has higher miles but I have honestly never seen a carfax like this ever. every oil change was at the dealer, tires were at the dealer, 5,10,15,20 thousand service intervals at the dealer.
The second is tempting with the lower miles and I like charcoal colored cars but black is always great. either way they are both good colors interior and exterior. She might drive 10-15 miles a day so it will be a low mile vehicle in a few years. Both have records of timing belt and water pump being done right around the 90-100k mark but Im not too worried with how little she drives ill have plenty of time before either needs it.

Any opinions would be great. either way i'm thrilled because she finally let me sell her Honda Pilot and add another cruiser to the collection!

10ga I went and looked at that car, it was just a few miles up the road from me. It was a great buy for the money. unfortunately I was told we would have to sell one car before I could bring another one home.

I would look at them both before I decided. I looked at about 50 online. They all looked clean. I traveled a few hours to look at about a half dozen before I bought mine. The ones I walked away from were nowhere near as solid as mine. I wanted them to be right but I knew they were not when I saw them in person. In any case, you can only tell so much online or from pictures. Be prepared to walk if neither are right. I read somewhere on here that you'll know for sure which one is the right truck for you. That was true for me.

Good luck

I have already looked at both of them in person. They are both super nice. If i had to say the 05 is a little cleaner and both are mechanically sound and solid. I have looked at so many and these are the only two that I have been impressed by. If I only knew of one of them I would have bought the other already. The dealer is supposed to be working on a new set of michelins for the 05. If they do that then I will be going that route more than likely.
