Thanks. I may counter-offer with 23. I cancelled the trip to TX to look at the year 2000 one, told them to tear up my check and apologized for any inconvenience, think I can do better with one that is newer or with T-belt service already done.

I bet you that LC was used to ferry people across the border from TX to Mexico. That door inside the rear hatch looks bullet proof, probably easier to add that extra door than bullet proof the stock rear hatch...

Also the extra dark tint all the way around is a giveaway for a transport hauler...

You can't get one for less with more mileage. I bought mine with 125K on the clock after validating it was well maintained
 
Good morning fellow LC lovers
I test drove 2 LCs yesterday and I was so disappointed, some people have no pride in owning such a master piece :mad::mad:.first LC was a 1999 model and had only 65K but it drove and felt like my old pickup it was bad :bang:, another LC had 104k but much cleaner inside and out side . every time I was shifting from 4L to N to 4H the felt the grind, is that usual or …….
Well I’m a newbie can someone explain the correct procedure of shifting from L to N to H please :o

Next time try it with the transmission in Park or Neutral, foot on brake, then shift from 4H to N, then N to 4L. Lastly, select proper transmission gear/mode.

The 98-99's will automatically engage the Center Differential Lock (CDL) when in LO so either use on a loose surface or don't turn nor keep in LO too long. This auto CDL feature can be disengaged (Pin-7 Mod).

Hoser is on the money as usual. The other suggestion I have is when going from 4H to 4L, pause at N for just a few seconds. I've found this almost always results in zero grinding when shifting the transfer case.

With all that said, a little grinding is not a indication of a problem with the transmission or transfer case. Keep in mind, unlike the transmission shifter, the transfer case shifter is a manual linkage directly connected. Hence why you see it vibrating when driving down the road.

Agreed - my method is to shift the tranmission into neutral, let it sit there for about 2 seconds and gently push the tcase selector into neutral then into low. If the tcase selector does glide forward with minimal pressure from your hand, I let the truck roll ever so slightly while pushing the selector then it slips right in. I've used 4low about 5 times since I bought the truck a little over a month ago, and I have not heard grinding once or had any trouble getting it in.
 
I ended up getting the 2005 model with 84k and great records for $24.5k. T-belt, water pump and new tires on it in last six months by previous owner. It is immaculate, owned by an older couple. No had ever sat in third row, or probably even the back seats. Paint looks brand new. I honestly couldn't believe how nice it looked in person.

Only thing it needed was a shampoo of front floor mats. Done!

I am so excited. I drove the 80 again today. I love the 80 but they are apples and oranges. After driving the 100 I think I will have to keep it and sell the 80. Or get the :princess: to sell her Sequoia and keep both Cruisers!

Good buy, MTBGUY. Sounds like you got a prestine vehicle. Regarding the Sequoia, personally, I'd keep the Sequoia for the Mrs. More power, better MPG, more comfort, and surprisingly, good off-road capabilities.
 
Hey folks...I currently have a '91 HDJ81 cruiser but I think I've caught the 100-series bug and I've started looking around. There are very few here in Canada as they were never sold here but there are a few Lexus LX470's as they've been sold in Canada all along.

I've found an LX in Toronto that had originally come from the U.S. It's a 2005 with 44,000 miles, NAV, rear DVD, the usual stuff for an LX470. It looks very clean based on the high-res photos he's sent me. He says he has some maintenance records. Asking price is CAD $30,999 which strikes me as pretty decent. I haven't done a CARFAX yet so I don't have the whole picture.

To those that know more than I, would that be a reasonable price in the U.S. for that vehicle?
