Note to any new cruiser buyer: DO NOT LET THE DEALER INTO YOUR GLOVE BOX TO CHECK THE CABIN FILTER. Hundreds of us have had the recirculate door broken, can’t prove the dealer did it, and if replacing the parts new it’s multiple thousands of dollars between parts & labor.

edit: a great strategy is any time you bring it to the dealer for anything, lock the glove box and keep the physical cut key with you, and just give them the electronic portion. This way they can’t get in there at all. People have tried warning stickers and everything.. doesn’t work.

Is the broken door obvious to see or is it something you hear about later when you service it? If I open the glove box tomorrow will it be obvious looking at it what the issue is?

If you open your glove box, remove the hatch at the rear, and look inside while you cycle the recirc button, if it is broken it won't open and close smoothly or at all. If it moves smoothly in both directions when you cycle the button, you're probably fine.

Or, if you can move the door back and forth by hand (don’t use much force, it’ll be obvious) it’s broken.

Either way enjoy that beautiful new truck!

If it’s new, then it shouldn’t even be touched though right?

I wouldn’t be so sure if they had any reason to get in there as part of their pre delivery inspection....
If it is broken on a brand new vehicle though, it’s clear who did it.
Before I left the lot I’d open the glove box and remove the cover panel then operate the recirc button to look for flap movement. If good, never let them in there again.
Not to get too far off topic.. it’s just that everyone needs to be aware of this issue.

Hey sorry again but what is the deductible...I think that’s as important as mileage in the small print

I really should have checked before posting anything...its actually an 84 mo, 100k mi warranty. Deductible is $100 per visit. Cost was still $2150.

Is it through the dealer or Toyota? What tier level? Thought all Toyota warranties were $0 deductible.

Through the dealer. Looks like the warranty is through First Extended Service Corporation.

I got the extended warranty 10 years 100,000 miles, zero deductible and 9 years of service included $3500 approx
For me the peace of mind is worth it! After driving an Audi and having so many issues that were so expensive I never want that to happen again, you can easily dump 20,000 grand in several months if something goes wrong

I hope it doesn’t but I for $3500 it’s just worth it not to think about any of that worry until 2030
