Also... still looking for recommendations / ideas for front bumper and fender flares / guards.

Anyone know of drawings or plans for DIY replacement fenders?

Man....I just looked at that damage again and it just grieves me.

I don't know how the OP feels about their L/C but I LOVE mine. I fully plan to drive it until the day I die.

Its 'my baby' and I would be horrified if that happened to mine. I understand being 'civil' about dealing with the shop owner...but I recommend being absolutely 'firm' about them making it right.

Handled poorly (insurance company involved)...it will be 'totaled' and lost. Such a shame.

As of 18 months ago I am a bellow the knee amputee. While I was (and still am) learning how to do everything with carbon fiber and titanium instead of bone and muscle I have a left hand pedal installed. Apparently stepping on the accelerator like one would a clutch can be somewhat tragic.

oh so the mechanic messed up with the hand pedal?

Foot pedal I think.

He wouldn't speak to me and the next day they had a 'Now Hiring' post up.

Really like this rig, but in the big picture it is just metal and plastic. I spoke with my Insurance guy and he was really upfront with me and said that it would be totaled and they don't care that I just rebuilt the front axle for $2000 in parts, or the new OME suspenssion, etc...

I am fairly certain that my options are working with this guy or going to small claims court.

Take a ride with the owner down to the body shop and have them prepay for the damage repair on a credit card. No insurance is involved and they can figure out what to do after you are made whole.

Small claims court can be a hassle and even if you when, how do force them to pay? Sure there's garnishment, liens, etc... but still a hassle.

Oops, double post

Possible to have the insurance co. total it out and then buy it back? Not ideal, but at least you'd still have the truck, and money to repair it...

I'm not worried about the money, this is a hobby, hunting, bug out rig. I was really just looking for ideas for bumpers and fender flares.

I haven't done tons of research yet, but I like the clean looks of the NWTI bumpers front and rear.

I say keep flares, I think they make the trucks look cooler. If I had to buy some, I'd go with pocket flares, but that's just my preference.

Someone that the shop employs should be good with a welder, and they might have other tools that should help. Make them build you a custom one, or get one of the DIY kits from a vendor in here and have them weld it for you free of charge.

you'll find a divide in opinion. I prefer these trucks flareless. NA ownes tend to appreciate the flares.

NWT innovations and metaltech I think they have kits. there's also a vendor here that does more bespoke kits I think it's smaller production, apparently the kit is very nice but I cannot remember the name.

There are lots of threads discussing front and rear bumpers. Although dated, there are good threads about each in the FAQs. 80-series FAQ So much of the choice is personal, that you really can't have someone else tell you what looks best. If you want the best clearance, the 4x4 Labs bumpers are about the strongest contenders. If you want the most coverage, ARB is a very worthy option. There are people who also think each of those bumpers are the best looking. I happen to like the look of tube bumpers, but I think that puts me in a minority camp.
